I couldn’t believe we had gotten everything ready so fast. And while I would be getting more and more inventory of books in, I had a pretty good selection to start.

Not only that, but I had my first author who was doing a signing at the grand opening. Sure, it was Alley and she was my friend, but she was also an awesome writer who had an amazing personality. On top of that, she’d also gotten some other authors she knew in and out of the area to book a private signing at my store in the future.

None of this would have happened in a month if not for all my friends and the kids too. Each of them played a part in the opening of my new store. Including Capri who was making some delicious pastries for the event. The woman was wonderful and had already become a good friend. It was clear she fit right into the mix of all us ladies, and as Teal had mentioned, it seemed like she could use us in her life as much as we enjoyed her being in ours.

So somehow we’d made it through Thanksgiving, which we all spent together, and were just a few weeks from Christmas. My store was decorated for the opening but in holiday style. Red and white twinkle lights were strung outside the door and throughout the space inside. I also had two Christmas trees that were beautifully decorated, one inside and out adding to the ambiance of it all, and there was mistletoe hung sporadically throughout so couples could get a little smooch in if their hearts desired.

Rowan had already put the mistletoe to good use as we set up. Anytime I was near it, he would sweep me into his arms and claim my lips in a passionate kiss, stating we were under the mistletoe.

Like the man needed an excuse to get me to kiss him.

I was thinking about how I could use one of those kisses from him right then as I sat at my desk going over a few last-minute things and let the nerves get to me. Rowan and I were the only ones left in the shop finishing stuff up, Zander having gone home with Summer until later this evening when she’d meet us back at the store a short time before it all started.

As if I had summoned him with my thoughts, I looked up to find Rowan leaning against the door jamb. I scanned his big, beautiful body and everything but him slipped from my mind.

Looking directly into my eyes that had swept back up to stare into his after my inspection, he said, “Penny for your thoughts, Buttercup.”

I chewed on the inside of my cheek. What I was thinking right at that moment had nothing to do with my opening anymore and had everything to do with how delicious the man in front of me looked. Faded jeans, a white t-shirt stretched across his chiseled chest, hair mussed, and a light sheen of sweat that shimmered on his face and arms.

Who the hell knew sweat could be so damn sexy?

But on Rowan, it was a turn-on.

Getting up out of my chair, I rounded my desk coming to the front of it and leaned against the wood.

“I was thinking about how I’ll feel if nobody shows up except our friends tonight, but then you walked in and my brain went haywire.”

Rowan raised his brows, shut the door, and stalked toward me. “I’m glad my presence helped free your mind, but I can do more to make you forget your worries.”

Once he reached me, he gripped my hips and with ease lifted me up and placed me on the top of the edge of the desk. He slid his slightly, rough palms up the inside of my bare thighs, and took my skirt up as he went, causing every nerve ending to tingle in anticipation.

Stopping in the vee of my legs, he leaned in and kissed the side of my neck. When his hands reached their destination, he yanked my panties to the side and his thumbs brushed against my sex. One digit slipped inside and I mewed like a kitten as the sensation had me reaching for release in a matter of seconds.

My palms hit the desktop and flattened against it to give me leverage. I pushed up into his touch. He played, bringing me to the brink of orgasm, and then backed off before starting all over again.

“You’re a tease,” I whined.

His deep chuckle washed over me and then his hands left my body. I was about to protest until he gripped my panties in his grasp and ripped them off. With hurried movements, he got his jeans undone and shoved them along with his boxers down in one fluid motion. Then he reached behind his head with one hand, gripping his shirt and pulled it over his head.

I watched with lust-filled eyes as he came back toward me and grabbed his cock, lining it up perfectly with my core. A naughty, excited feeling raced through me at the fact that he was naked, while I was almost fully dressed, and I was going to get lucky in my new office. By christening the space it was bound to add some good luck to the opening.

He notched the head of his manhood at my entrance, wrapped his arms around my backside, and then grabbed my ass. In one fluid motion, he sank deep, causing all my air to leave my lungs in a quick rush. I gripped his shoulders and my head fell backward as he set a fast, merciless pace.

“Oh shit, I forgot—”

I didn’t care what he had forgotten, I was too far gone, and he wasn’t leaving my body. “I don’t give a shit what you forgot, don’t you dare stop!” I yelled, moving my hands to his ass now and holding him to me.

He didn’t stop or protest.

Pounding in and out of me repeatedly, he took me on the journey of a lifetime. His bare cock was nothing like I had ever felt before and it alone with the woodsy scent, mixed with his perspiration, and the growl that rumbled from the depth of his soul had my orgasm bursting free. He kept up the frantic pace until I was coming down from my high, then he slammed home one more time and emptied his warm seed into me, sending me over the edge again.

My head hit his shoulder and my body felt like Jell-o in his embrace. I listened to his heavy breathing and the thump of his heart as we both sat motionlessly.

Once I could move, I raised my head to look at him. “That should tide me over through the opening.”

“Glad I could oblige.” He leaned over and nipped my lip and then gave me one of the kisses I’d been hoping for right before he’d walked in. “Should we talk about it?”

I knew what he was referring to without him coming right out and saying it. “No. I loved every second of it.”
