Maddie gave me one last hug, and as she pulled back, I saw Oliver walking through the door.

"Hello," he said. "Rich, good to see you."

"Hey, Oliver."

"Hi, Oliver," Maddie said. "I was just giving a hug to Rosalie because she is amazing."

"Yes, she is," Oliver said, looking at me and then looking at Maddie. "To what do we owe the pleasure of your company?"

"Oh, I had a doctor's appointment and I completely forgot, so Rosalie and Alice took care of Maddie for me this afternoon."

"Oh, awesome," Oliver said, smiling. "I hope it went well."

"It was amazing," Maddie said with a huge smile.

"Well, I'm glad. You guys have a great evening."

"You too, Oliver."

"Bye, Rosalie. Thank you once again," Rich said, sincerely, "and I'll put in a word for you?"

"Great. Thank you." I watched as they walked down the hallway, and Oliver closed the door behind him. He looked at me for a couple of seconds, a warm expression on his face.

"I didn't know you liked kids."

"I love kids."

"Awesome," he said, nodding. "I missed you today. I was hoping we would go to lunch. I had this steak restaurant I was going to take you to."

"Maybe next time," I said. "If you feel like asking."

"Oh, I definitely feel like asking," he said with a warm smile. "Hey, Alice.

"Hey, Oliver," she said.

"Well, I will go and change, and I'll come hang out in a little bit," he said. He whispered to me, "I wish I could kiss you right now. I want to feel the touch of your lips against mine so bad."

Chapter34

Oliver

"So I have a meeting at three thirty," I mumbled under my breath as I checked my calendar, "and then I have to meet with Kramer at four thirty. That should last about thirty minutes." I sigh.

That meant I wasn't getting home until around five thirty or six. I was missing Rosalie. I wanted to see her. She'd been so busy the past couple of days with Alice that we hadn't really been able to spend any quality time together. We hadn't made love in over a week, and, well, I didn't like that. I missed being able to hold her close. I missed being able to snuggle her. I missed listening to her laugh and the way her eyes would light up in fire or mischief when she was teasing me or arguing with me.

"Fuck," I said as I sat back in my chair.

Realization suddenly hit me. I'm in love with her. I fucking love Rosalie Sloane. It hit me like a ton of bricks all at once, and I realized that this wasn't something new or something shocking. I'd been in love with her for a long time, but I'd let the feelings sit dormant in me. But now, now there was no denying it. I loved her, and I wanted to be with her as more than a secret hookup. I didn't care if Foster got angry or upset or wanted to kill me. I wanted to date Rosalie. I wanted her to be my girlfriend. I didn't want the secrecy. I wanted to be able to kiss her whenever I wanted. To hold her hand. To take her on dates. To sit and watch a movie with her. I wanted to be able to have her sleep in my bed so that we could wake up in the morning and the first thing I would see would be her beautiful face.

I looked at my calendar again and debated canceling all my appointments so I could rush home and speak to Rosalie. But I knew that I couldn't. My job was important to me, and doing well was important to me, and the meetings I had were important. There was a knock on the door, and I sat up straight. I grabbed my pen off the table.

"Come in," I called out.

"Hi," Diana's sultry tone sounded in the room as she walked into the office and closed the door behind her.

"Hi," I said, smiling congenially. "What's up?"

"I just came to see how you're doing, Oliver James," she said, biting down on her lower lip.
