“Foster said you’re more than welcome to stay here if you do decide to visit,” I said excitedly.

“He did?” Alice sounded slightly giddy. “Well, hopefully soon.”

“Yay.” I headed toward the kitchen. “Well, I’m going to make some coffee and get ready for the day. I’ll call you later.”

“Yes! Call me and let me know how your night of passion at the Ritz is...” She paused for a few seconds and then continued. “Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do.”

“Oh well, tonight, I think I’m going to have to do many things you wouldn’t do,” I said with a small laugh before hanging up the phone and heading to the kitchen. I was hungry, and I needed caffeine. I smiled to myself as I looked around my new home. It was nice here, and I felt like I belonged. Maybe it would all work out amazingly after all.

Istared at my reflection in the bathroom mirror. I looked like a frigging bombshell, and I could feel the excitement running through my body. Oliver would be home any minute to pick me up and take me on this date. Not that it was an official date, of course, but I knew. After the night we’d had last night, he wanted me. And I wanted him. Yes, I had to forget why I’d been so upset with him. But I had a plan. I would allow myself one amazing night of hot passionate sex, and then I’d blank him. I’d pretend the sex was bad and that his breath smelled of onions, and I’d wrinkle my nose if he even suggested doing it again. Because that was what he deserved. Sure, maybe he’d matured from who he had been years ago, but I hadn’t forgotten how he’d hurt and humiliated me. I would never forget that.

I sprayed some of my favorite perfume in the air and walked through it, then exited the bathroom. I’d hoped that Oliver would be there waiting for me when I walked out, but he wasn’t there. I’d wanted to stun him with my look. I decided to walk to the kitchen to pour myself a glass of wine while waiting for him to arrive. We still had some red left from the night before, and I poured myself a generous portion. I took a large gulp and then walked to the balcony to people watch. A woman was walking a dog, and I laughed as he pulled ahead of her, trying to sniff and pee on every lamp post she saw. Even from this distance, I could tell she was frustrated by the dog. I wanted to shout down to her that she should take him to a trainer and that would stop the pulling issue, but of course I didn’t.

“What are you laughing at?” A warm deep voice sounded from right behind me, and I turned around slowly, my eyes widening as I took in his handsome sexy appearance. His pupils dilated, and a wicked smile crossed his face as his eyes moved up and down my body. “Very nice.” He grinned at me, and I blushed.

“A woman was walking her dog.” I pointed down toward the park. “He was trying to sniff every piece of concrete, and she was growing increasingly frustrated.” I laughed. “It was like the dog was walking her.”

“Aw, the tale of dog owners with dogs who’ve never been properly trained on how to walk in the street.”

“That’s exactly what I was thinking,” I nodded enthusiastically, excited that he had the same thoughts as I did.

“Dogs are amazing, but you have to let them know who’s boss...” Oliver bit down on his lower lip and stared at my lips. “You have to let them know who the alpha is.”

“Yes, you do.” I downed the rest of my wine. “You have to put them in their place.”

“They have to know who’s in control.” He continued, taking a step toward me.

“They have to know that they can’t just take something when they want it.” I took a step toward him. “They have to wait until it’s offered.”

“If it’s ever offered.” His eyes were mere inches from mine now. I could feel the warmth of his breath on my trembling skin.

"Well, it will probably be offered," I said, lowering my eyelashes seductively. I pressed the palm of my hand against his chest and held it there for a couple of seconds. I could feel his body stilling at my touch and the power I felt immediately made me feel like Superwoman. Finally, I dropped my hand, looked up again, and gave him an impish smile before heading into the apartment. I could feel his eyes on my back as I walked away from him.

"So is it time for us to leave?" I said, glancing back at him. He stood there with a dazed expression on his face, and I wondered what he was thinking. I wish I had the ability to read his mind. I wish I could tell what was going on in his head and what he was feeling in his heart. If he was as turned on as I was. If he was as excited to go to the Ritz Hotel and have the most magnificent night with me as well.

"Sure," he said, walking back into the apartment slowly. He closed the sliding door and then stood there for a couple of seconds. "So I think I'm going to change really quickly."
