"He's just a jackass." I laughed. "He hasn't done anything recently, but what's he going to do? Throw you into the street?"

"I would hope not," she said. "But I don't even have a ticket, and I don't have much money."

"Look, girl, my parents gave me a thousand dollars. I have nine hundred and ninety left. I'll buy you a ticket."

"No, I cannot let you use your hard-earned money to buy me a ticket."

I started giggling then. "Come on now, Alice, I didn't earn that money. Please come. I don't want to be here without you. I miss you. I just can't keep calling you twenty-three hours a day."

"I mean, you can," Alice said. "I mean, are you sure you really want me to come? You're not just saying that because Oliver pissed you off?"

"I'm totally saying it because Oliver pissed me off, but I really want you to come. And I don't know why I thought I could start this new adventure and journey without you. You're my best friend. We do everything together. We went through high school together, we went to college together, and we moved back home together. We should start this next part of our life together."

"I mean, I've always wanted to live in New York. If you're serious and you don't mind getting me the ticket, I'll get a job as soon as I get there. I don't care if I have to work at Chipotle, or the grocery store, or whatever."

"Girl, we might both be working at the grocery store," I said with a giggle. "But when I get home, I'm going to look for tickets, okay? And I'll get you one."

"Yay. Awesome. Thanks, Rosalie. You really don't have to."

"Of course I do. We're best friends."

"Is there space on the couch for me to sleep?" she asked curiously.

I chewed on my lower lip. The couch was spacious, but it wouldn't be that comfortable with us both sleeping on it. "Not really, but we'll figure something out. I mean, maybe you could sleep in Foster's bedroom," I said with a laugh.

"Yeah, that would be nice," she said wistfully, and I frowned.

"What do you mean that would be nice?"

"I mean, when he’s not there," she said quickly.

"Oh, okay. I was about to say, you know Foster’s a dickhead. If Oliver is a playboy, then Foster is the king of the playboys."

"I know," she said. "You forget, I grew up with you and him. I saw all the different girls he had coming in and out of the house."

"Yeah. He's such a douchebag. I thought Oliver was a douchebag, but they're both douchebags. Down with men!" I said, laughing, but all of a sudden, I felt better. "I'm so excited that you're going to come, Alice. Thanks."

"But where am I going to sleep?"

"If anything, we'll get an air mattress and put it in the middle of the living room."

"Oh Lord. Rosalie, Foster and Oliver are going to regret letting you stay."

"I don't care," I said with a giggle. "They deserve what they get." I heard the sound of music coming from the room Oliver had gone into and loud cheering. "You know, I'm starting to feel a little bit bad about Oliver getting an award and me not being there."

"Yeah, girl. You should go and support him. I know everything's kind of a mess, but at the end of the day, he is still your friend."

"Yeah, I guess. He's just a loser, but he's still a friend, and he did pick me up at the airport yesterday. Fine. I'll call you later tonight when I get in. Okay?"

"Okay. And tell Oliver I said congratulations. And thank you."

"Thank you for what, girl?"

"For letting me stay."

"Alice, he doesn't even know you're coming yet."

"Oh yeah." She giggled. "Oh man. I don't know if I should come."
