We both bob our heads.

“Julian,” Maggie says. “I would like to be taken to this new bite camp you have. I want to see Shannon.”

“Unfortunately, I can’t get away. There’s some backlash from the Council due to the events with Count Dupré. I have to stay here for a meeting.”

“I’ll take you,” Law says, but he doesn’t look at her.Chickenshit.

I smirk, knowing he’s struggling to keep his feelings under wraps. Dumb boys.

“Perfect,” she smiles widely. “When can we leave?”

“Within the hour if you wish.”

“We’ll pack our things.”

“You’re going with them?” Julian directs at me.

“I want to stay with you, but I feel like I owe it to Shannon to visit.”

He smiles, but it doesn’t reach his eyes. “Of course. It would probably be better if you weren’t here while the Council is. I don’t know whom to trust.” He rakes his hand back through his hair, blowing out a breath.

I walk around the desk and wrap my arms around his waist. “We haven’t had any time together,” I murmur into his chest.

“I’m getting out of here. This is nauseating,” Maggie fakes disgust.

“I’m right behind you,” Law echoes her sentiments.

When they’re both out of the room, Julian leans down and whispers into my ear. “I’m glad they’re gone. I had planned very inventive ways to get them to scatter.”

“And what ways did you have in mind? Pray tell.”

He tightens his hold on me. “It involves those papers hitting the floor and your ass hitting that desk.”

My eyes widen at Julian’s suggestion. How badly I want to act on it. Julian must read my expression, because his eyes darken as he backs me into the desk. My rear hits the edge, and he leans over me.

“I want you, Marina.”

I suck in a breath, but it’s cut off midway when Julian’s lips crash into mine.

“I don’t care what secrets you kept, Marina. As long as you’re safe and in my arms.” He practically growls into my mouth.

I seal my lips to his, begging entry to his mouth with my tongue. He opens willingly, caressing my tongue with his. We’re locked like this for some time before a throat clears in the doorway. Julian breaks the kiss first, looking up.

“Adèle,” he says curtly.

I right myself, trying to shake off the embarrassment of being caught.

She chuckles. “I apologize. I’m here at your request, remember?”

He clears his throat. “Yes, come in.” He turns back to me, regret in his expression. “I’m sorry, baby. I have to prepare for my meeting with the Council. Addy has some information I need.”

“That’s all right,” I say, lifting up on my toes and placing a kiss to his cheek. “You take care of business. We’ll make time to be alone when I get back.” This last part is whispered for his ears only. He grins, confirming he heard it and is more than on board.

“Hi, Addy,” I say as I walk past. “See you when I get back.”

She smirks. “I’m looking forward to girl talk.” She winks and I’m sure my cheeks redden.

I’ll be thinking about that kiss and his dirty promises the entire time I’m in Seattle.
