Holy fuck.

He increases his speed, sliding his hand around my hip to play with my clit. My breathing comes in short, shallow gasps as he moves faster than I can keep up with. My pussy clenches around his cock, and I see stars as an orgasm rips through me, my nerve endings nearly exploding. I collapse against the bed, and Kade pulls me up, continuing his thrusts until he grunts, spilling his release inside me before collapsing next to me on the bed.

We catch our breaths before Kade pulls me into his arms, smoothing his hand along my hair and kissing my temple. “That was something,” he says with a soft chuckle.

“Yeah,” I breathe, “you could say that."

“Are you okay?” he checks, searching my face with attentive silver eyes.

“I’m… That was amazing.”

“Glad you think so too.”

My heart is still beating faster than normal, but I'm able to catch my breath as I run my fingers over the tight muscles of Kade’s stomach. He kisses the side of my head again and murmurs, “I love you, Calla.”

I close my eyes, inhaling slowly. “I love you, too.” The words leave my lips as if they're the most natural I’ve ever spoken. I hadn't expected to say it at that moment but I know it’s true. I do love Kade—and not just Kade. I love them all.

I open my eyes to find him frozen, those silver eyes locked on my face and widening slightly. His mouth curls into a slow grin as he snags my chin, tipping my head back. “Say it again,” he murmurs.

I lower my lashes, unable to hide my smile, then meet his gaze once more. “I. Love. You.”

He shakes his head, leaning in until his lips brush mine in a whisper of a kiss. “You have no idea how fucking amazing it is to hear you say those words.”

I lean the rest of the way in, sealing his lips with mine and kissing him deeply, showing him I mean every word with all of my heart.

Once we get cleaned up and dressed, we join the others in the common area of the hotel suite. They are sitting around the dark oak dining table, sipping blood. Lex is double-fisting a mug of coffee and a glass of blood, and I just shake my head at him, walking past toward the kitchenette as he shoots me a wink. I grab a cup of coffee, wrapping my fingers around the mug, the heat radiating through my fingers as I take a seat at the head of the table. The others are chatting about plans for the hunters and what our next steps are, while I sit in silence, sipping my coffee.

“You're awfully quiet,” Lex observes.

“She's probably still recovering,” Kade says with a grin in my direction.

My lips twitch briefly but my pulse ticks unevenly in my throat.

“What's going on, angel?” Gabriel says, reaching for me and resting his hand on my forearm.

I glance down at it, holding my gaze there as I lick the dryness from my lips and clear my throat. “I don't need a month.”

“What do you mean?” Kade asks.

I bite the inside of my cheek as my pulse ticks faster, and lift my gaze, looking at each of them. “The ultimatum Simon and Lenora gave…” I shake my head, still having a difficult time with the reality of it. “I don't need a month to decide what I want.” My eyes land on Atlas, and a muscle ticks along his jaw as he holds my gaze.

“Calla—”

“I’ve decided.” I swallow past the lump in my throat, refusing to let emotion clog my voice. “I’ll become a vampire.” I sit back, moving away from Gabriel's touch. “I… I'm terrified, but more so of losing you all than learning to live as one of you. This wasn’t an easy decision, but my feelings for all of you won out over my fears of this choice I’m making. Especially after seeing Lex hurt by those hunters… I need to be able to protect the four of you like you protect me. I can’t constantly be sidelined because I’m a breakable human.”

“That’s not how we see you,” Kade says in a firm voice, his eyes locked on me. Lex nods in agreement.

Atlas shakes his head. “You don't have to do this, Calla,” he assures me. “We will find a way to elude my parents so you can remain human and keep your memories.”

I blink at him in surprise. I'm not sure why it's the first I'm hearing this from him. Perhaps he wasn't expecting me to make this decision, or at least make it so quickly. “I can’t… I don't want you going against your parents.”

“But I would. Iwill—for you.”

I drop my gaze for a moment before returning it to him and smiling. “You don't know how much those words mean to me, and I know you mean them, but I’ve made my choice. And it’s not all bad. There aresomethings I’m actually curious about when it comes to being a vampire, and I know you’ll all be there to show me the ropes and teach me the ins and outs.” I had hoped saying the words aloud would make me feel better about them, but the fear is still rooted deep in my chest.

“I think we should discuss this further,” Gabriel says in a gentle tone.

Offering him a soft smile, I shake my head. “I appreciate that you want me to be happy, and of course I hope to get to a place where I am as a vampire. That being said, there’s nothing you can say now that will make me change my mind. Please respect that.”
