“I’m sorry I was so hard to live with. I know I’m restless, but I never imagined doing life without you. I just wanted you to be restless with me,” she mutters into my shirt.

“That’s the thing. I’m not restless. I’m right where I want to be.”

She looks up, her eyes filled with tears.

“We weren’t meant to be were we?” she asks.

I lift a hand and wipe a tear from her cheek.

“Sure we were. For a season. We just weren’t meant to be forever,” I say.

She smiles.

“I’ll always have love for you, Corbin Tuttle.”

“And I’ll always have love for you,” I tell her.

She bears up on her toes and kisses my nose.

“Bye, Corbin” she whispers.

“Goodbye, Susanna, and good luck in Nashville. I hope you find everything you’re looking for.”

And I do. I truly hope she finds the excitement and adventure that she could never find here in Balsam Ridge.

She gets into the cab of the truck with her father and I step to the side of the driveway.

She waves one more time as they back out onto the street.

“You’re going to need to shopping,” Maxi says as she looks around the empty living space.

“I think I’m going to wait.”

She turns to face me, raising an eyebrow in question.

“What are you gonna do? Sit on the floor to watch television?” she asks.

I shake my head.

“Nah, I was thinking I’d bunk at one of my brothers’ or my parents’ homes for a while and have Graham do a complete remodel of the place.”

“Is that right?”

I shrug.

“Yep. It’s time for a new beginning. May as well give it a facelift while it’s half empty.”

“Hm, well, Garrett’s house isn’t finished yet. Weston is staying with Langford and Tucker at the moment. Graham has Taeli and Caleb and your parents still have Morris at home,” she informs.

“Weston is staying in one of his Man Caves.”

I shake my head.

“I heard him tell your mother that none are open at the moment and he’ll probably stay with Langford.”

“What about Garrett’s cave?”

She shrugs.
