“I just think he wants to stay with your brother because Langford cooks,” she states.

I nod. That sounds like West.

“That’s true, but they do all have open guest rooms.”

“I guess. It just sounds awfully crowded to me,” she continues.

I lean a hip against the kitchen island and watch her as she makes her way over to me.

“What do you suggest I do then?” I ask.

She stops in front of me and wraps her arms around my neck.

“It’s probably best if you just stay with me at the cabin for the time being. No need to inconvenience anyone.”

“Is that right?”

“Yep. I mean, you’ll be at my place when you aren’t on shift anyway. Why make it difficult by having all your stuff somewhere else?”

I put my hands on her hips and tug her into me.

“I am a little old to be sneaking into Mom and Pop’s house before sunrise,” I agree.

“Exactly.”

“And it will be easier to get your input on what needs to be done around here. Being as it’ll be your home too one day,” I say, matter of factly.

“It will?”

“I hope so,” I say.

Her eyes come to mine and she grins.

“As long as you keep the stripper pole we’re good.”

I lean down and bring my lips to her ears.

“Oh, that pole’s not going anywhere.”

I feel the shiver slide through her.

“Too bad we don’t have a bed or a couch,” she starts.

I quickly let her go and step back. I move the stools and swipe an arm across the island sending everything perched on it sailing into the floor.

She laughs as I snatch her off her feet, sit her on the cool stone, and step between her thighs. She leans back on her elbows and presses her palms into the surface.

“This will do.”

I lay on top of her.

“Time to christen the place,” I say before taking her mouth.

She kisses me back, slow and soft before she gets impatient.

“This is not the time, Corbin,” she demands.

And she’s right. There is time for soft and slow, but there’s also a time for hard and fast.
