Nothing will ever get the chance to hurt them while I’m breathing.

The timing is perfect.

I was patient when Katiya wanted to give it a few years, even though I was eager to have children from the get-go. Looking back, it was the best thing we could’ve done; to wait until she was a few years older and more established with her fashion label.

It was also nice to spend that time just the two of us and enjoying each other before we started a family.

I know now that everything works out for a reason, and Ma was right when she said,When one door closes, Marco, another one opens. How right she was back then when I felt as though there was nothing and nobody left for me.

I just turned forty years old, and finally, I have it all.

The Royale went from one success to another after opening night, and we’ve never looked back. The atmosphere there is like no other, and while I’m busy running the operations there and buying and selling more real estate, I’m looking forward to some extended time away to share with my wife and daughter.

“I think we should let the family in,” Katiya says after a few moments.

Everyone is out in the waiting room and has been since I rang Ma and told her Katiya was going into labor. I glance at the nurses, and they say it’s okay to have family come in now.

“I have to share her with the world?” I grumble, holding our precious bundle to my chest.

I will never grow old of holding her, smelling her, kissing her, being her father.

I’m a father. I can’t actually fucking believe it.

I look down to my gorgeous wife and kiss her again. I’m in total awe of her and what she has just done.

“Yes, and my Otetz is on the way with his cavalry, so let the Medicis get in quick,” she says.

I tip my head back and laugh. Yes, it’s been trials and tribulations joining with the Petrovs when our families came together and when Katiya and I married.

Still, I’ve come to respect and admire Aleksi, especially in the way he protected and looked after his daughter all those years without her truly knowing. I feel it so much stronger now that I have a daughter, too.

It’s my time to step up as a man. There has been no better time to show my girls what a man truly is. And I’m humbled to be able to do that for them.

I’ll guard them with my life.

“Are you ready, my littleBella?Your Nonna and Uncles are all waiting, as well as your Aunties and cousins. They can’t wait to meet you.”

I look down to her little pink face as she scrunches a hand to her mouth and takes a big yawn. It’s heaven watching her, pure heaven.

I give Katiya a wink before I head out into the hallway with her. Sure enough, Ma, Valentina, Angelo, Rayne, Luca, Alessia, Enzo, Dante, and Fynn are all waiting. This is just the start of it. I’m sure Aunt Voula and the rest of the tribe aren’t too far away.

Ma jumps up and rushes towards me when she sees me, already crying in Italian and saying how beautiful her granddaughter is.

A big grin spreads across Angelo’s face, and my brothers all come and pat me on the back. I’m sure he’s got a big, fat Cuban cigar tucked away in his suit jacket for us to celebrate with later.

“Thank God, she takes after her mother,” Angelo muses.

Valentina and Rayne push in to get a look. Rayne passes Angelo their daughter to hold, but Ma wants the first cuddle with her grandbaby. Needless to say, the women are all gushing.

“Did you name her yet?” Valentina prods, “Please, tell me she has a name.”

I smile and nod. “Yes, she does. Isabella Alina Maria.” Named after both of our mothers.

Valentina wipes her eyes, her joy witnessing my happiness is overwhelming.

“That’s beautiful,” Rayne says, cooing at the baby.

“You did good.” Enzo smiles and gives me a hug. “She’s beautiful, Marco.”
