“I owe it all to my wife,” I say, thumbing towards her room.

“Can we see her?” Valentina jumps up and down excitedly, “Is she ready for visitors?”

“She’s superwoman,” I muse, as I nod towards the door. “Nothing could stop her.”

“I’m so proud of you, Marco!” Ma is so, so happy, her smile lights up the whole hospital.

“Gotta hand it to you, you make great-looking kids,” Fynn jokes.

That only jibes Angelo to add in, “Someday it’ll be you too, sunshine.”

“Age before beauty,” Dante quips, elbowing his twin in the ribs. Since neither of them has had children yet, Dante assumes Fynn, being minutes older, should take the lead.

“You look like the cat who got the cream,” Rayne says to me, giving me a hug on the way into the room.

“I never thought this day would come,” I say, trying not to lose it again. I’ve cried a fair bit today, but only in front of my wife. “It’s overwhelming, if I’m honest.”

“She was always coming,” Angelo adds, rocking Alessia over his shoulder. “You just didn’t know it then.”

Luca runs up to the bed and tries to climb on as everybody laughs. Katiya reaches down to help him up, and he gives her a beautiful cuddle.

“You’re right, brother, I got everything I ever wanted in the end.” I smile towards my wife as we share a moment. I want her so fucking much. “Sometimes in life you just have to be patient.”

“It’s worth the wait.” Ma intervenes, reluctantly passing Isabella over to Rayne for a hold.

She and Katiya have become so close and immediately hit it off. Once prejudice was put aside, nothing could stop them.

“Someone had to take him off the market,” Enzo says. “To give us all a break fromassholeMonday.”

“What’s asshole Monday?” Luca questions.

Ma gives Enzo a slap upside the head.

Valentina takes photos on her camera as the girls continue to fuss over the baby.

Ma watches me. “It’s just like your Pa said all those years ago. When you see your unborn children in her eyes, you’ll know. And now look, you have a beautiful wife and a beautiful daughter.” She reaches up and touches her hand to my cheek. “He would be so proud of you, Marco.”

“Thanks, Ma, that means a lot.” I feel a lump in my throat thinking about Pa. I miss him so much. I hope he’s looking down on us now. She’s right, I know he would be proud. And in his way, I’m sure he’s here with us in spirit.

I glance over to Katiya; she’s watching me with a soft smile on her lips as our daughter gets passed around the room. I smile back, and I know not a day will go by where I don’t show her how much I love her and how grateful I am for finding her and giving birth to our precious daughter.

I’m finally home, and it feels amazing.
