“You’re so good to me, Bond.” I yawned again then laid back on the seat.

It felt like it’d been five minutes when Gunner woke me up. We were at the hotel and there was a clear path to get inside. He left the limo at the entrance and escorted me to the elevator.

“Hold on, I need to go in the spa for a minute.” I stopped Gunner from going further.

I hurried into the spa to find Mylene and Constance standing at the desk talking.

“Hey, do you think you can come up to the penthouse and put my hair in an up-do?” I asked, pointing to a picture on the wall. “Like that one.”

“Sure, I’ll be up in what, an hour?” Mylene asked, looking at the schedule book. “Unless you need me sooner. If so, I can try to reschedule my next appointment.”

“An hour will be good. I’m going to grab a shower and pick out what to wear,” I said, closing the door and rejoining Gunner at the elevator door.

“You ready now?” Gunner asked, getting into the elevator. “Where are we off to tonight?”

“I’m not sure, he didn’t say. He just said he wanted to take me out to dinner,” I said thoughtfully.

“I’ll message Asher,” he said, taking his cell out.

“You look like you have a question or need to say something,” I said, leaning against the wall of the elevator.

“I need a few hours off tonight or tomorrow night to get together with a Seal buddy who is in town,” he said, looking all serious.

“Strewth Crickey Bond, of course you can have a few hours off,” I said, smiling at him. “I want you to take the whole night off. We can have the chef make us a meal in the penthouse.”

The elevator doors opened to the penthouse and Asher.

“Look who is finally back from playing all day. What’s this I just heard about the chef?” he asked, walking with us to the living room.

“I just gave Gunner the night off,” I said, then stopped walking. “Oh, hmm… was I supposed to get your permission for that?”

“No, he is your bodyguard. You give him off as much as you want.” Asher poured himself and Gunner a Scotch on the rocks. “What can I get you to drink, Imogen?”

“Nothing, I’ll just grab a bottle of water. I need to cancel the hairdresser since we’re staying in,” I said, walking over to the house phone.

“Don’t do that. We can dine at the roof top restaurant,” Asher said, sitting in a chair by the fireplace. “I meant to take you there one night anyways. You can see pretty far over the city up there.”

“Sounds fun. I’m going to go shower. Did the clothes arrive?” I stopped walking to ask. “I’m excited to see something other than the three outfits in that closet.”

“Halima has already put them in the closet along with shoes and purses,” Asher said.

I left the two men sitting in the living room with their Scotch. The last thing I heard before I closed my door was something about ice hockey. I smiled to myself knowing the closet light would come on when I walked in. I knew I was being silly about that light, but I liked it. The closet was stocked full of clothes and they were very organized by style and color.Wow.I grabbed one of the three robes I had gotten today and went to get my shower.

I want to look great for him tonight. He was so good to me today. I hope he had fun. I should tell him which outfit to wear to match me. Ha.

Chapter 56

AUGUST

Gunner had left for his night out. I surprised him by telling him I had a driver waiting to chauffer him around tonight. He tried to fight me about it until I told him Imogen would be upset with him if he didn’t let her spoil him. I was standing at the island when Imogen came around the corner in a flowing zebra print dress that fell just below her knees.

“Wow, that dress looks amazing on you. I don’t remember you trying that one on,” I said, trying to slow the fast beat of my heart. “I’m starving. You ready to eat?”

“Once again, you’ve forgotten who you are speaking to, with that question,” she said, laughing all the way to the elevator. “I don’t know how I don’t weigh two hundred pounds.”

I just shook my head and pushed the up button. I only then noticed the sexy strappy sandals she wore with the dress that I couldn’t stop looking at. I never would have seen myself liking a zebra print dress, but I definitely liked it.

“I didn’t realize this elevator would go up,” Imogen said. “I thought the penthouse was on the top, so how are we going up?”
