“Well then, we better do what Dr. Trey says.” Mia hugged Sophie to her side. “Do you want to go to an ice cream shop or get it from an ice cream truck?”

“From a truck? Doesn’t it melt in a truck?” Sophie bounced on the seat.

“Yes, from a truck, and no, they don’t melt. It’s an ice cream truck,” Mia explained. “Come sit on my lap and help me look for one.”

They spent the next fifteen minutes looking for an ice cream truck. Mia knew where the trucks were but pretended, to keep Sophie interested. I had stretched out on the other side of the limo and fallen off to sleep.

“I see one, I see one!” Sophie cheered loud enough to wake me.

“Crickey, what’s all the excitement in here?” I yawned and sat up.

“We found the ice cream truck,” Sophie cheered.

“And right next to it is the pretzel vendor,” Mia pointed. “As promised, hot pretzels.”

We sat quietly in the limo eating our treats while the driver drove us to Times Square.

“Sophie, this is what is called Times Square. See all the big screens and lights?” Mia opened the window to lean out with Sophie, looking up. “We can drive here again one time when it’s dark so you can see the lights even better.”

“Can we walk around here with all the people?” Sophie asked.

“Not today. Dr. Trey said not too much activity.” Mia closed the window. “We can go in the M&M store for a few minutes though. Would that be fun?”

“What’s a MM store?” Sophie asked.

“Baby girl, it’s M&M, like the candy,” I said. “Look out the window. See the big M&M man in the window?”

Sophie was thrilled to stand in the circle at the M&M store to find out what color M&M she was. Of course, she made us see what color we were as well.

“I got rainbow color, just like Mummy,” Sophie told the driver through the little window. “Aunt Mia got yellow.”

“I went there with my daughter one time and I got green and she got red,” the driver answered back. “Thank you for my box of M&M’s.”

“You’re welcome.” Sophie sat back in the seat with us. “Maybe we can go there again with Uncle Parker and Dr. Trey to see what color they are.”

“That’s a great idea, Sophie,” I said.

“I don’t know about you two, but I’m feeling like a bludger. Why don’t we go back to the house and rest on the balcony?” Mia said.

“I agree, and Dr.Trey just texted me to see if we did another breathing treatment yet,” I said, looking at my watch. “It’s been three hours since the last one. We don’t want you to have to go back to the hospital now, do we, Sophie?”

“I don’t want to go back, but I like Nurse Betty.” Sophie smiled. “She is silly to Dr. Trey. She yells at him to eat his lunch.”

“We’re here, Sophie.” Mia grabbed for her purse. “Come on, I know a little puppy who wants to play.”

When we arrived at Mia’s, Victoria and Amoeba greeted us at the door. Victoria had picked up some games for us to play.

“Mummy, can I watchPeppa Pigwhile I do my treatment?” Sophie asked. “Miss Victoria, do you want to watchPeppa Pigwith me?”

“I was hoping you were going to ask me to watch it with you.” Victoria fluffed the pillows next to her on the couch.

Mia had poured us each a glass of wine and we went to lounge on the balcony. I could feel my eyes constantly fluttering closed.

“Chloe, take a nap for a bit,” Mia said. “I’m going to close my eyes as well.”

The sliding door cracked, and I watched Victoria enter quietly. She looked to Mia, then pointed back to the couch where Sophie lay cuddled up sleeping with Amoeba in her blanket.

“Do you want to look at the bios for a bride for Trey?” Victoria whispered to Mia, waving the six files at her.
