“I don’t want you to go,” I blab. She blinks, but doesn’t look away.

“Ok?”

“I want you to stay.”

Silence falls over us again, and I bite my lower lip. Fuck, where is my goddamn snarl or crankiness when I need it? I’m already blowing this, and I haven’t even started.

“I don’t want to go.”

We stare at each other with wide eyes for about ten seconds, before her face cracks into a giggle. She lets out this laugh, that’s so contagious that I can’t stop myself. Here we are, under an umbrella on the roof terrace of a hotel, when we could have been warm and inside in my own apartment. It’s fucking perfect.

“Then stay with me,” I breathe. “Forever. Marry me, Angélique. Become a Donnelly,myDonnelly. And rule this business with me, for us.”

She cups my face and brushes her lips over mine. “Are you really asking me to marry you?” She looks stunned, but there’s something else in those soft brown eyes I’ve come to recognize as hope. I have hope too, cause, damn, I think I’m actually convincing her to do this. “Yeah,” I mumble once I catch my breath again. “What d’you say, angel? C’mon, live this crazy shit. Live it with me.”

Her lips tremble. “Can you focus on the future?”

“Hell, yeah.”

“Focus on peace?” She looks so serious that my giggle comes back, much to my own embarrassment. I nod though, anticipation bubbling up in my chest.

“With The Void? I wouldn’t want to start with a war,” she muses and I take her face in my hands and plant a soft kiss on her lips. “Anything, my love. Anything for you. I promise.”

Her lips curl into the widest smile I’ve ever seen. It’s like a ray of sunshine and it blinds me. “In that case, oui. I’ll marry you. But you have to learn French.” I give her a fake groan and she pulls her hands around my neck. “Bet you’ll be fluent in six months.”

“False.”

EPILOGUE

“Fuck baby, I love that dress on you. So sexy.” I press my hips against hers while my teeth sink into her neck. I suck at the tender flesh, then soothe it with a flick of my tongue and roll my hips against her. She gasps in surprise—she didn’t see me coming when she exited the bathroom—before she lets out a shaky laugh.

“Logan? You made it.” She pulls my face close and gives me a once over with those soft brown eyes. My fingers smooth across the emerald-green satin fabric of her garment and I grind against her once more, famished. I bare my teeth at her and snarl, before I dig back in. My lips find hers, and I lick and kiss my way inside her warm mouth, while my fingers roll the material of her dress up. We’re standing in the narrow corridor of the hotel and if it wasn’t for Mason and Samuel standing on guard, someone could have accidentally passed our way. I pull her dress over her panties and she squeaks when I lift her up as I tuck her panties aside. My own cock strains painfully inside my pants, and I feel relief when I pop the buttons and free the hard flesh.

“I wouldn’t miss this for the world,” I growl in a low voice. Her knees are straddling my muscular thighs and I tease a finger in, only to find her pussy wet and slick with anticipation. “Hm, you need my cock, don’t you?” She mumbles a hoarse reply, and I pull her onto me as my dick slides in slowly. I take my time, playing with her pussy as my hips make circular, lazy movements. With her back firm against the wall, she lets her hands wander. I feel them on my shoulders, then my head. As I start pounding into her, she pulls the strands of my hair and moans. “Fuck angel, you’re so tight. So perfect for me.” I let two fingers slide over and rub her clit while I pull her mouth in for a wild kiss. She whines into my mouth and I feel her body tense. “That’s it, baby, come on. Give it to me.”

Her mouth opens against mine and she comes, narrowing her walls even further, causing me to burst with a howl. Our foreheads touch and we’re both panting in the aftermath, while we take our time coming down from our high. I gently put her down and pull her dress back into shape. Once I’m convinced she looks presentable, I give her a peck on the lips.

She beams at me. “So, you saw me sing? Or did you just come for this?”

“I just came for this. Why, were you singing?” Ever since Angélique enrolled in the Conservatory, she’s been doing quite the performances. The perfect combination to her work within The Business, where she mostly looks after the girls. She narrows her eyes and I laugh. “I loved it. And the other woman, is that one of your teachers?” I follow her inside the bathroom where we both wash our hands.

“She is. And the girls loved it too.” She turns to face me. “You haven’t forgotten that I’m going out with them, have you?”

“Of course not. As a matter of fact, I’m also going out. The crew organized some sort of surprise bachelor party.” I huff, but it comes out wrong. Yeah, yeah, I’m actually looking forward to this. So shoot me. I never thought it even possible that I could turn into one of those cheesy motherfuckers. Guess I was wrong. But you know what? I don’t mind. I’m happy. Hell yeah. Happy.

We make our way back to the lobby of the Red Park Hotel and before I can even see her friends, I hear them. Damn chicks are always so loud. They’re chatting and laughing and genuinely seem to have a fantastic time together. I’m happy for Angélique. She was adamant we should invite them for our wedding and who am I to refuse a girl something like that? Our crew’s standing in a far corner at the bar, quiet and withdrawn, the complete opposite of Angélique’s friends. Connor, who I just picked up from the airport, is chatting to Mason and Harry, a tired but happy glow on his face. Next to them, Samuel is staring daggers at Charlie, who’s standing even further back in the corner with Mia. One of these days I’ll have to figure out what the hell’s going on between these two. It’s so fucking good to have Con around again. I just know that he’ll get along perfectly with Angélique. They have many things in common.

I drop a kiss on her nose as we part ways, and I head for the boys. I put my arm around Con and pull him in for another hug.

“How are we doing over here?” He turns and smiles at me through his large glasses.

“Excellent. Couldn’t miss the party I organized myself now, could I?”

Before I can give a reply, he excuses himself and gestures to Prue, who makes her way to the bar. Moments later, she’s holding a microphone in her hand and the waiters come over with bottles of champagne. Prue taps the microphone and clears her throat. “Right, hello everyone.” We all greet her back, which is a ridiculous sound and brings a first wave of laughter amongst the girls. I shake my head, grinning. “So, in a minute, the girls will go out together, and the boys will do their own thing.” There’s some noise from behind me, but Prue ignores it. “Tomorrow, we’ll all be going to some fancy house, I’ve been told.” She puts the mic in front of Connor, who supplies, “our house by the lake, that is.”

“Right, yes. Very fancy. As we speak, Angélique’s parents have arrived and they are already up there with the Donnellys. So…” she ignores the snickers, instead turns to Connor. “Let’s share a first drink all together, and may there be many more to follow.” We all give them a cheer and I move to find Angélique. She hands me a glass and I pull her close to me, my mouth greedily on hers. Her taste is addictive, her smell and touch, I can’t get enough of it. Connor squeezes my arm and I tuck him closer. They smile at each other—a warm, genuine smile that makes my heart flutter. Soon this magnificent woman will be mine, officially. And in a few months’ time, Con will be permanently home, and we can start preparing the future of The Business. We raise our glasses.
