“I’ve only seen one other person here, and it’s rare,” I said, all eyes coming to me.

“Pregnant woman? About this tall?” Drew held his hand up to his chest.

“That’s the one.”

“The only help she offers is running her mouth.”

I furrowed my brow.

“Why do you constantly talk shit about your wife?” Carlos asked, exasperated.

“The way you two argue, it’s exhausting.” Stone pointed at Drew. “And donotinvite us over for breakfast again.”

“We’ve got a customer,” Daniel interjected.

I set aside my drink, and we all went back to our posts. “Do you all like each other? Kind of hard to tell from over here.” I supposed the same could be said for my brother and me. We gave one another a harder time than anyone else.

“Yeah. Him we tolerate.” Stone pointed toward Drew, and I called out what we needed for the next order.

I looked at my watch.“We’d better close it down. Officer Wilson doesn’t take too kindly to the truck being parked here after the allotted time.”

“Who’s Officer Wilson? And how do you know that?” Drew asked.

“He’s the beat cop around here, and I met Trish when he was trying to give her a ticket.”

“Let’s get out of here. I don’t need any cops breathing down my neck.”

My brows pinched at Drew’s response. Who were these men?

“Looks like we’re done anyway.” Carlos glanced out the window to the last customer ambling away.

“Utensils and containers go under there.” I pointed at the bins Trish had had me secure the items in when I’d helped her before. “She stores the cookware in that drawer.”

They all looked at me in shock, but quickly followed my instructions.

Once we’d packed up the truck, I tried to hide my surprise when Stone slid behind the wheel and cranked it. They hadn’t tossed me out.

“Trish give you the okay to drive Delores?” I asked.

“Who’s Delores?” Stone frowned at me.

“The truck.”

“I didn’t know she had a name.”

Daniel watched me, those eyes off-putting. It was impossible to tell what the man was thinking, but his demeanor toward me had only relaxed a fraction since I’d pitched in today.

“Now you do,” I said easily.

Stone rubbed the dash. “All right, Delores. Let’s show these city boys how it’s done.” He flashed a taunting grin at the rest of us.

Daniel pulled me aside. I held on to the edge of the counter as we rumbled down the street.

“If I say the word, you’ll leave without question.”

“Where are we going?”

“Agree to the conditions.” The words were spoken casually, but there was no room to argue.
