“I know.”

I opened my arm and she snuggled back beside me. Something in me settled. She was where she belonged and so was I.

“Do you want to go back to London?”

A pit formed in my stomach. I didn’t want to leave my family, but I wouldn’t force her to be somewhere she didn’t want to be. She’d had enough of that in her life.

“No. I want to go to the Bronx.”

“You could open a real estate office there,” I suggested. “Because you’re not working for him still, right?”

“I can’t.” She splayed her fingers on my stomach. “I want to talk to Lincoln about where we go from here. Working with him is one of my favorite things.”

“He could run your Manhattan branch,” I said, teasing.

“Hmmm. I’ll have to interview him to make sure he’s up to the task.” She kissed my chest then grabbed her phone.

“He’s just in the next room.” I snickered.

“There are three houses for sale within a mile of your mom.” She held up the phone.

There was a map and three listings. I clutched her a little more tightly. We were doing this. Starting our future.

“Ugh, there’s no backyard.” She made a face and scrolled to the next one. “Eh, maybe,” she said, quickly flashing me a picture. “This one has potential.”

It looked a lot like Ma’s house, similar in style, but maybe a little bigger. I narrowed my eyes on the address. “That’s on her street.”

She held the phone up to her ear.

“What are you doing?”

“Calling the agent to set up a time to look at it tomorrow.”

“It’s after eleven.”

She looked at me likewhat’s your pointthen schmoozed the agent into a showing in the morning.

“Are you any good at remodeling?” She slapped her hand over her mouth. “Forget I said that. The last time I asked, you left me.”

I rolled on top of her. She squeaked, and Brutus lifted his head to make sure she was okay.

I lifted her left hand and held it between our faces. “See that? It says neither of us are going anywhere.”

She beamed at the ring. “I love it. Did I tell you that?”

I brushed my lips over hers. “I love you.”

“Will you marry me? Again?”

Her gaze was so open and honest, I got lost for a second.

“I’ll marry you as many times as you ask me.”

She grinned. “This time let’s invite our family.”

“I’m good with that.” Ma would be happy. She’d want to fuss over flowers and a reception. “I know the perfect place.”

“I bet it’s exactly where I have in mind.”
