“Seeing as I’m already driving, why aren’t you just offering to hold my pants?” I waggle my brows at her.

“Because I ain’t hangin’ out the window. I mean, I could sit on your lap and steer, but I’m not sure that would be a good thing.”

My head spins and—“Shit!” I slam the breaks as my pants go flying out of my hand! I drop my head back against the seat and groan. “Seriously?” I look out the window, and there they are in a fucking ditch. Looking back, there goes the girl that landed them there. I sigh, getting out behind her, thankful this is a mostly dead road.

She heads down to grab my pants, and I’m starting after her, listening to her laugh her ass off. “Sure—sure—you jinxed me.” I snort as I see headlights and hear hooting as two cars come ripping down the strip. They spot me and my boxers. At the angle we are, I’m sure Nicolette looks downright busy. They honk and split as they zoom around my truck, still in the middle of the road. I am actually really fortunate that they didn't smash it.

Nicolette grabs her chest as she stands back up. "I think my heart is coming out of my chest." She's breathing heavily.

I instinctively pull her toward me. “Are you okay? What can I do?” My eyes roam over her. I know what I want to do, but now—here, in my boxers in a ditch may not be the moment for it.

She clears her throat. "Yeah—I just need to breathe."

“Come on, I’ll get these damn jeans on, and we can head over to Curb Stomp.”

“Yes! Mitty can’t complain when I start ordering his hibiscus tea. You’ll be with me.”

“I’ll be with you. Hell, you may even get me on the dance floor if you’re nice to me.” I smile, zipping my fly.
