She shook her head. “I don’t think I heard an actual question in there.”

Fine. If Tamara wanted me to spell it out, I would. “Will you stay here with me? Will you marry me? Will you give Sammy a mother’s love?”

She nodded her head. “Yes. Yes. Yes.”

“Yeah, that’s what I thought,” I said before cradling her in my arms as I stood from my seat.

“What if my answer had been no?”

“That wasn’t an option for me. I love you enough for both of us, and I would have kept on doing my damndest to convince you we belonged together. And I would have used Sammy, too. I’m not above a little emotional blackmail.”

She laughed as I carried her up the stairs. We both knew exactly how we were about to spend the next two hours. “You can’t use that beautiful little boy like that, Clint.”

“Shit, it would have been his idea. I mean, have you met my son?” If I’d let Tamara walk out of our lives, he would never have forgiven me.

“I love Sammy, too. You know that right,” she whispered as we walked through my bedroom door.

“I know.” Placing her on the bed, I removed her clothes. “I’m gonna be so good to you, Tamara. We’re going to have a good life.”

“I’d expect nothing else from my Desperado.”

Leaning down, I captured her soft lips with mine and proceeded to show her just how happy I could make her. And I made damn sure she screamed my name.
