Epilogue

Tamara

It was finally our wedding day. I wanted six months to plan. Clint wanted six days. We settled on six weeks.

Ebony, Cole, and Steven flew into town for the event. Steven’s brother Julian was also here with his wife Kori and their son Morgan. It wasn’t a large event, Clint made sure of that, but all the key people in our lives were here.

“When can we leave? I want to peel that dress off you and nibble on every inch of your body.” If he could have gotten away with going to the courthouse and getting married, he would have. That’s when Gladys stepped in to help me convince him he needed to do the right thing. It’s not that I wanted a huge wedding, but I wanted something unique. This would be the last time I did this, and I needed more than four walls of a courtroom.

“Well, you have to wait a bit longer. Our guests are here for at least two more hours, more if your dad and Brandon won’t stop challenging the guys to drinking games. I was sitting on Clint’s lap as we watched all our friends and loved ones eat, drink, and cut a rug on the dance floor. I saw Morgan, Julian and Kori’s son, and Sammy dancing to the latest song played by the deejay. Their little bodies contorting and moving in ways that had all the adults laughing.

Glancing to the side, I noticed Gladys talking to Ernest. I wasn’t sure how he even got an invitation, yet here he was. “Clint, did you send Ernest an invite?”

“Yup,” he smirked, leaning down to kiss my neck.

“Stop that,” I said, but I didn’t really want him to. “Clint, you know Gladys isn’t interested in Ernest. I don’t think he’s left her alone this entire reception.”

He nodded. “She may not want him, but he wants her. And there’s someone else who needs to make a move. I’m tired of Dad beating around the bush. If he wants to have a future with Gladys, then he needs to do something about it. Since he was taking his time, I gave him a little push. Look in the corner by the bar.”

I glanced over in that direction and saw Butch standing in the corner, his face a mask of anger as he looked at Ernest pushing up on Gladys. I tried not to laugh, but I couldn’t the low giggle. Oh, that man was about to lose his mind. Then, just as I had that thought, he placed his drink down and stalked over in Gladys’ direction. “We should do something, Clint.”

“No,” he said, rubbing one hand along my thigh. “I’m ready to leave. It’s time for me to make love to my wife.”

“One-hour,” I demanded.

“Thirty minutes,” he countered.

“Stubborn.”

“Hungry,” he responded, leaning over to kiss my neck. Looking up at me, he grabbed my chin with his hand. “Are you happy?”

I didn’t even have to think about it. “Yes. Very.”

“Can we make a baby?” he whispered in my ear.

Turning my head to him, I’m sure my face had a look of shock. “A baby?”

“Yes. I want a little Tamara running around.”

Wrapping my arms around his neck, I leaned down to kiss him. “What about if we had another little Clint? Give Sammy someone to teach how to ride horses.”

His blue eyes bored into mine. “I want as many babies as you’ll give me. I’m happy you’re my wife, Tamara. When you arrived, I had a feeling my life would change, but I had no idea how quickly you’d become the other half of me.” He kissed her lightly on the lips. “I’m gonna make you so happy

“I know you will, and it’s my job to make you happy as well. I love you, Clint.” Looking at Sammy and Morgan still dancing, I quickly changed the subject. “Are you okay with Sammy staying here with your dad for the weekend?”

“He’s happy as a clam to be spending time with his grandpa. Gladys was planning to stay with some girlfriends in town, but based on what’s happening over in that corner,” I glanced over and saw Gladys and Butch having a very heated argument while Ernest stood off to the side watching.

“I just don’t want him to think we’ve forgotten about him now that we’re married.” I wanted him to accept me. To know that I loved him as my own.

“Don’t worry. Our son will be fine,” Clint said with ease.

“Our son. That means so much to me. I can’t wait until we have another mini-you or mini-me to call our own.” Smiling up at him, I ran my hand along his jaw and neck. “I’m ready to leave now.”

“Damn, Tamara. Do you have any idea that I fall deeper under your spell every single day?” Then, standing, he lifted me in his arms. “Can we make a baby now?”

“Yes. And if we don’t make one tonight, we’ll have fun practicing,” I said with a laugh.

As he walked us out of the banquet room on his father’s property, he yelled out at everyone. “My wife and I are going to make a baby. Don’t bother us until we come up for air.”

“Yay! I’m gonna be a big brother,” Sammy yelled out.

We both laughed as we waved to our family and friends. We walked outside, making our way out the door to the car waiting for us.

I have no idea what’s in store for us in the future. My trip to Denver was a way for me to find my way to freedom. Instead, I found the man I love. I also found a family, and that was perfect for me.
