Page 83 of Claiming Vanessa

I don’t know if he’s just humoring me or if he’s really getting into the idea, but either way, it turns me on in a way I can’t fight for long. I spill into her, my seed joining Giulio’s, and I groan as I nibble at her throat.

“You feel so good, Vanessa,” I whisper raggedly. “So good when you come around me. I’m so glad you admitted to Giulio you wanted babies. So glad he’s willing to share you with me.”

Giulio chuckles and squeezes my ass. “You’re always welcome in my bed, you know that. And I told you, I don’t care whose baby it is. If she gets a little hairy beast, well, I’d treat him as my own just the same.”

Some of the afterglow drains away, and I reluctantly pull out of Vanessa, who instantly turns on her side, trying to pull away from both of us. “It’ll be yours,” I say quietly. “But thank you.”

Part of me wants to cuddle with Vanessa and Giulio. But some of the fantasy has shattered, and I’m faced with the reality that there’s a lot more for us to do today. I reach for the bedside tissues to wipe myself clean, trying to figure out how to convince Giulio to get out of bed and start getting ready for all of the meetings.

“Why?” Vanessa suddenly asks in her quiet, broken voice. “Why Giulio’s? Why not yours?”

“Huh. That’s a good question.” Giulio taps his foot against me. “Well?”

There are so many reasons I can give.

“I’m not the boss,” I say as I slide off the bed. I start picking up my clothes. “You’re young, Giulio. To some of the other bosses, you’re still a child. If you marry—or if you at least have a family—you’ll gain some respect in their eyes. Most of them already have grandsons. Show them you aren’t simply a kid playing with his father’s toys.”

I pull on my clothes and turn around, surprised to see Giulio sitting up, staring intensely at me. Nearby, Vanessa remains curled up in a ball, staying out of our conversation like she thinks that’ll make her disappear entirely.

“Is that it?” he asks, eyes narrowed.

No.

“Family is important.” I meet his gaze directly. “I want you to have a real family, Giulio. Not the one Emilio gave you. One filled with… with respect, and love. The kind of love only a child can give their parents.”

Giulio’s eyebrows rise. Then he looks at Vanessa and places his hand on her ass. “So you thought taking Bellini’s other daughter, the one only slightly less traumatized by my old man, and setting her up as my baby mama would give me that?”

“She doesn’t have to love you,” I answer. “She has to give you children. And she’s of much higher quality than any of the women you usually meet. Her children will be equally smart, equally beautiful.”

Vanessa is trembling, though she doesn’t pull away from where Giulio is petting her ass. Her sobs are a little louder, and I wish I could make her understand that being the mother of Giulio’s children is an honor, not something to be mourned.

“I dunno. She’s done some pretty stupid things,” Giulio muses. “Like try to cover for people who clearly despise her.”

“She’s compassionate. That’s a good quality in a mother,” I answer, although now I’m even more curious about what had happened the previous night.

Giulio doesn’t look satisfied with my response, but he finally nods. “Yeah. Fine. Honestly, I think the other mafia dons can get fucked, but we probably should use whatever advantage we can get. And your kink is rubbing off on me, anyway. All this MILF talk was hot. I really would make a great dad.”

I don’t care what reason Giulio has for indulging me. I know he’s slow to warm up to people. But the fact that Vanessa is here, that she was wearing his mother’s clothes—that means he’s already thinking of Vanessa as one of his own, somebody to care for.

“Okay, we need to get ready for meetings and shit, right?” Giulio goes for his phone and taps a few times. The phone starts ringing loudly, set to speaker. A few rings later, Slayer picks up.

“What’s up?” he asks. It sounds like he’s in the car.

“Yo, come over to my place. You need to take Vanessa back to Ntimacy. You can have our leftover waffles if you hurry.” After a beat, he adds, “Wait, maybe you can also stop for coffee. That bodega at the corner—”

“No,” I interrupt. “Do not stop for coffee. Just… hurry over so I can take Giulio to this meeting.”

Slayer snorts. “I’m on my way to work. I can’t just stop for babysitting duty.”

I dearly want to agree with him, but we’re definitely behind now and don’t have time to take Vanessa back ourselves.

“Nobody’s going to care if you’re a few minutes late,” Giulio jokes. “They might even thank you for postponing the beatings a bit.”

“I’m never late,” Slayer informs him haughtily. “You’ll make me ruin my perfect record.” I hear somebody honking the background. “But if I do go out of my way to bring her to Ntimacy, I get to bareback her before I leave. Gotta get a reward for my good deeds.”

And there goes the last of the afterglow. Vanessa flinches and shakes her head, and for once I agree with her.

“Your reward is the salary we’re paying you,” I interject. “And you’ll be even later if you stop to do that.”
