Page 91 of Claiming Vanessa

It’s late enough that I could go home and collapse into bed myself, but I’m here, and seeing Giulio having breakfast with Vanessa this morning, a picture of easy domesticity, offamily…

Having her once today hasn’t been enough.

When I walk into her room, she’s curled up on the bed like usual, but she’s facing away from the door. She lifts her head, her eyes rimmed red with tears as she sees me standing there. She squeezes her eyes closed, shaking her head.

“Not now, Damien,” she mumbles. “Please.”

I go to sit on the edge of her bed and gently stroke her shoulder. “I haven’t seen you properly in a few days,” I say, although I know she doesn’t care about that as much as I do. This morning had been nice, but it hadn’t been nearly enough either. “I’ll take your mind off things.”

Vanessa shudders. “I don’t want you to take my mind off things. It’s late. I just want to sleep.” She squirms, trying to get away from my hand, but I keep my touch gentle but firm.

“You aren’t this sheltered,” I tell her. “You watched Emilio have your father murdered. You saw the wedding getting shot up. The death today was relatively gentle in comparison.”

“He was just a cop doing his job,” she whispers, flinching. “And maybe it was an overdose, but he’s still dead. My father…” She shakes her head, cutting off what she was about to say and going silent instead.

“And what happens after that, Vanessa?” I sigh and pull my hand away. “Do you think Stef, Traci, and Cat will be better off in jail? Do you think Elena would be? Because rest assured, Giulio and I would not be the ones in a jail cell.”

“No, of course not!” Vanessa says, looking up at me. “But that doesn’t mean he deserved todie. You can’t just kill everyone who might arrest people. Everything you do is dangerous, and you can’t just murder everyone along the way. Even my father didn’t have everyone killed.”

It strikes me that she truly has no idea of what her father did to secure his empire. I only saw part of his operations, but he was not a gentle man. One of his final acts of brutality had been ordering his men to saw off the arm of one of Corvi’s finest and send it to him as a warning.

I mention none of these things to Vanessa. I’m charmed by her innocence, her naivete. The kindness that I know will come through when she’s caring for her children.

“Why do you care so much?” I ask. I place my hand on her thigh. Even through the jeans, I can feel her warmth. “It doesn’t concern you at all.”

Vanessa sighs, putting her hand on mine and trying to push it away. “I don’t know. My father didn’t care about people, my mother didn’t care about us, my sister…” She hesitates. “Lucia’s not who I thought she was either. She’s gotten so… cold. I don’t want to be like that.”

“You aren’t like her at all,” I say fiercely. “You sister was shrewd, cunning. You’re… delicate. Something to cherish.”

I’d spent far too long looking at the photo Giulio had sent me the night before, of his seed dripping out of Vanessa’s cunt.

“I’m not delicate, or something to be cherished,” Vanessa says, her voice sharp. “You’ve made that pretty clear to me. All you do is terrorize me, or let the others do the same thing.”

I suppose, from her point of view, that’s true. But she doesn’t understand just how much we’ve been pampering her. Giulio hasn’t invited anybody to his condo in over a decade. He certainly wouldn’t allow any other woman to wear his mother’s clothes. And I’ve never wanted to possess anybody as strongly as I’ve wanted to possess Vanessa.

“Of course you are,” I say, smiling at her. “You’re going to have Giulio’s children.” I snake my hand underneath the t-shirt to stroke at her belly. “Giulio and I have filled you up completely, haven’t we? Just like you’ve always wanted.” I don’t mention Slayer. He’s not supposed to be a part of this fantasy.

She flinches. “That’s not what I wanted. I don’t know why you think this is something I would want.” She doesn’t stop me from touching her now, her eyes closing.

I’m glad she’s starting to relax around me, though. I smile and draw her upright so I can hold her against my chest. She smells like soap and flowers, and her hair is still damp from an earlier shower. I keep one hand on her belly, stroking in slow circles, while I imagine the life beginning to form inside her.

“We’re giving you a child. You told me you wanted children.” I kiss the top of her head. “So you can be the mother your own mother never was.”

“I don’t wantGiulio’schildren,” she says, but she seems resigned to the touch. “I don’t want your children, or… or Slayer’s.” She shudders at the thought, and I can’t blame her. I don’t want her to have Slayer’s children, either.

“They won’t be Slayer’s children,” I assure her. “They’ll be Giulio’s. He’ll be a great father. He loves taking care of people.” I let my hand travel up, exposing her cute little breasts. I squeeze one in my hand, thumbing over her nipple until it pebbles up under my touch.

Vanessa lets out an adorable little whimper, and I slowly stroke her nipple. “S-stop,” she whispers. “I’ve had enough of being touched for today.”

“You’re upset. Let me get your mind off of it,” I soothe her, kissing her neck.

She shakes her head weakly. “I don’t want you to,” she protests, but she arches into my touch.

“Undo your pants,” I tell her while I continue to play with her nipple. “I want to see you spread out for me. I’ll eat you out.”

Vanessa’s eyes fly open, and she stares at me. “You’ll… What?” she asks, putting her hand protectively over the button of her jeans. “No. I don’t want you down there.”

I pet her throat lightly and groan. “Yes. You’ll enjoy it.”
