Lily laughed. “You’re naughty, but I’m glad you know people who can make these things happen. Poor other people who are stuck halfway down while we gaze at the sunset.”

“If they have any sense, they’ll do what we’re doing,” Ashton replied. He kissed her on the temple. “There are plenty of opportunities for kisses up here.”

“Then I’d better have another one,” Lily smiled.

Ashton bent his head and fireworks shot through her veins as his lips touched hers. She closed her eyes and lost herself to everything but the feel of his lips on hers as he cupped her cheeks in his hands. At last, breathless, they drew apart as the sun finally sank to the west. The ride started moving again, and Ashton shook his head and drew in a deep breath.

“Phew,” he said. “Just as well we’re moving again. That was some kiss. I might not have survived much longer.”

Lily giggled and laced her fingers through his. “I’d revive you. A little mouth-to-mouth resuscitation should do it.”

Ashton groaned and pressed her hand against his cheek. “It might put me in a coma.”

“Never.” Lily turned her face and kissed his hand. “I’d miss you too much.”

Ashton looked at her hopefully. “Does this mean …?”

“Does it mean what?” Lily asked innocently.

“Does it mean that we’re … we’re together again?” he asked cautiously.

“What do you think?” She wiggled her fingers at him. “Do you think I’d just randomly kiss you because you’re hot or something?”

“Well, there always is that possibility,” Ashton replied with a grin.

She pulled his face close to hers. “No.” She kissed him firmly on the lips. “You have to be more than hot to win my heart.”

“Win your heart? Is that what’s happened?”

“What do you think?” she asked again.

He trailed his lips down over her cheek until they met hers.

“What I think …” he murmured as he kissed her again, “is that you and I should just agree that we don’t want to be apart again. What do you think?”

“I think that’s the most sensible idea you’ve had all day,” she agreed as he kissed her nose. “Let’s not fight over silly things again.”

“Agreed. No more silly fights.”

“And remind me to give Henry a special treat when I see him again. We owe him.”

Ashton chuckled. “Not to mention that crazy friend of yours. Should she get a treat too?”

“I’d say Tyler has taken care of that,” Lily giggled. “Oh, Ashton, I’m so happy! I wish we could just go on living in this moment forever.”

“Well, you can sleep up there if you want, but I wouldn’t recommend it,” said a voice outside their car.

Lily looked up to see Tony grinning at them. She blinked. “Oh, is it time to get off?”

“That was the last ride of the day,” Tony answered.

“Thanks, Tony,” Ashton said, giving him a wink. “That was amazing.”

Tony smiled a knowing smile. “I’m glad. Enjoy your evening, you two.”

Lily glanced back as they left the ride. “Tony looked way too pleased with himself,” she said. “What’s going on?”

“Let’s just say he’s feeling as if he had a part in our newfound happiness,” Ashton said with a chuckle. “Leave the poor guy alone. He’s a hopeless romantic who just wants to find his own happily-ever-after.”
