“I have an extra toothbrush if you want it,” she offers.

“Yes, please.” I get up and walk to the bathroom.

She smiles at me and hands over the unopened package. I take it out and start brushing my teeth as Nat gets in the shower. I look around her bathroom, taking in the space. Everything is pretty close together since the bathroom is small, but it’s nice with an updated shower/tub combo and double vanity.

I finish up and walk out of the bathroom to find my clothes. I slip into my boxers and sit on the bed as Natalie comes out in a towel. My eyes track her, enjoying the show of Natalie dressing. It’s almost as sexy as watching her get undressed. Almost.

She puts on tights, a flowery dress, and a cardigan sweater. She looks adorable and perfect for her day at the library.

I may have to stop by sometime and watch her in action. There’s something about having a woman who is confident and in command when she’s out in the world but lets go when she’s at home. I love the dynamic in her and I want to be a part of both of those worlds.

Letting Natalie finish getting ready, I slip on my slacks and put my shirt on without buttoning it.

I walk out of her room and toward the kitchen to make some coffee. She has one of those fancy machines that do more than just brew one pot at a time. It takes me an embarrassingly long time to figure out how to work it, but eventually, I do. The coffee finishes brewing right as Nat walks into the room, and I hand her the cup.

“I’m not sure how you take your coffee or I would’ve fixed it up for you.”

She looks at me with a tentative smile like she’s unsure of what to do with me. Makes me wonder if anyone has taken care of her like this besides her mom. If her face is any indication, I’d say the answer would be no.

She puts a small splash of half and half into her coffee and takes a sip while I file the information away for next time.

“I have to go to work, but I’m not ready for you to leave.”

“I’m not either, but it’s okay. I’m going to head home and shower and then go to the gym. Text me later when you get a moment?”

“Absolutely.”

I lean in and kiss her. The feeling of her lips is soft and inviting, but I force myself to pull away from her. It's going to be so hard to wait to see her until tonight, which is an unfamiliar feeling.

Most women come into my life and I can’t wait to leave them, usually just a few hours after meeting them. I know it makes me sound like a jackass, but I’m always upfront with them about it so there are never any surprises.

I don’t have any of those feelings with Natalie. I could spend every moment with her and be happy.

I grab my stuff and walk to her front door as she follows behind me.

“I’ll see you later tonight?” I ask to make sure she’s still on board.

“Yes, you will.”

“Good, I’ll text you my address later so you can come over whenever you’re ready.”

“Perfect. Bye, Tucker.”

“Bye, Nat.” I lean in and kiss her one more time because I can’t get enough. She just smiles at me and pushes me out the door.

I walk to my truck with the biggest smile on my face. I could get used to feeling like this.

I finishedup my workout a few minutes ago and now I’m quickly rinsing off in the locker room of the gym. A lot of people don’t understand how the shift schedule works. All they see is getting two full days off and then only having to work one. The thing they don’t realize is the twenty-four hours we’re on can be unbelievably difficult. Especially if we get a lot of calls.

There are some days after a shift when I just lay at home and sleep because of how drained I am. Despite how exhausting it can be, it’s also incredibly rewarding. I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

As I’m getting dressed, I hear my phone ringing. Dad flashes on the screen, and I have to mentally prepare myself. I’m going to answer it, but I don't want to in the slightest.

“Tucker, Jesus. Took you long enough to answer.”

“What do you need, Dad?”
