Oh. Okay. I try not to smile and let my delight show.

“That would be nice,” I say calmly, pretending like I’m not freaking out inside.

“You’re not getting this,” Linden snaps. “Despite my insisting that he’s wrong, Rowan is certain that you’re our fated mate. As much as I hate to admit it, I fear that after last night, he might be right.”

“That’s not possible,” I shake my head. “I can’t be your fated mate. I don’t even like you!”

“Feeling’s mutual darlin’.” He sneers. But I can’t help but think of those stunning green wings towering over me. Or how willing I was to sleep with him when I thought he was his brother.

“I can’t be everyone’s fated mate or intended other. You can’t all have me!” I cry, feeling overwhelmed. “It’s not possible.”

“I know it doesn’t seem possible,” Rowan says gently, reaching across the table to take my hand. “But we have to face facts here. All of us feel something for you. None of us can stay away.”

“That’s infatuation. It happens at the start of all relationships,” I mutter dismissively.

“That doesn’t explain our connection,” Oakley points out. I have no comeback for that.

“What happened last night Jas when you did that spell?” Rowan asks. “You saw something we couldn’t.”

I think back easily to the fiery orange web-like light that connected me to Rowan and Linden, then explain it to the guys. I hesitate, and tell them about the deep purple coil I feel drawing me to Oakley too.

It’s Ash who nods with understanding.

“What?”

“I think I know what that is! I’ve heard about that kind of thing before.”

“Well?” Linden pushes, his tone acidic.

“It’s a mating spell.”

“What the hell is a mating spell?” Linden demands. But I don’t need to hear the answer.

Of course a spell is involved. I should have seen it sooner! There’s no other explanation for why four amazing and sexy guys would be so into me. Well, three and a reluctant fourth.

“So this isn’t real,” I state.

“It’s real,” Oakley insists, stubbornly. I need him to stop staring at me like that, he’s making my skin heat and tingle.

“No.” I shake my head.

“Yes.”

“No, it isn’t.”

“Yes it is!”

I growl in frustration.

“I didn’t put a spell on you. On any of us!”

“We didn’t say you did!” Ash jumps in.

“Well where the hell else could it have come from?” I demand.

“I don’t know. But maybe the spell is just showing us what’s already there? Maybe it’s...strengthening the bond between us all or something?”

“You can’t seriously be suggesting that I’m the fated mate to all four of you, and I seem to somehow have come across a mating spell to prove it?!”
