“No, that was good for now.”

He lays down in the bed and I go to walk out the room, “stay with me, Savvy, please” he says. I hesitate because I told him I understand why he left but I am still angry with him. Even after what happened in the parking lot of the restaurant, I’m still not ok with him. But when I look at him my damn heart has my feet moving to the bed. I get in and he pulls me to him however instead of him pulling me across his chest I reverse the position and put his head on my chest, and I run my fingers through his hair and massage his scalp, giving him the comfort, he always gives to me. Before long, his breathing had evened out and I knew he’s finally fallen asleep.

He sleeps for the next 48 hours straight, only waking long enough to eat and use the bathroom. I make sure I have food ready for him when he wakes up, while he sleeps, I go to his house with food to make sure his brothers are eating as well. I'm sitting in the living room Sunday night grading papers drinking my homemade peach lemon tea and listening to some music when he finally comes out of the bedroom.

“How are you feeling?” I ask him.

“Ok,” he responds.

“Are you hungry?”

“A little,” he says.

I get up and fix him a plate and bring it over to him on the sofa, half of it is gone before I make it back with his drink.

“What day is it?” He asks.

“Sunday.”

“I’ve been asleep since Friday?” He asks.

“Yes,” I say.

“I’m getting too old for this shit,” he says. He finishes the food and takes the plate and puts it in the dishwasher.

“We need to talk Savannah,” he says when he sits back down.

Joshua

I have been out of it since I got to the house with Savannah, and even though I know she is still angry with me and hurt she has taken care of me. Seeing her out on date with another man pissed me off but also scared me to death, the thought of losing her is more terrifying than dying in that jungle.

She looks so sexy sitting there with her glasses on grading papers and drinking tea. I notice that she always drinks her tea when she is working, and she always uses two separate tea bags. This woman and her fixation with peach and lemon. I make a mental note to have her own tea blend made for her, so she does not have to make her own mix. I know she must be tired too. She cooked all weekend long to make sure I ate and probably worked too.

“Savannah, you went out on a date.”

She sighs and puts down the paper she was reading and the dreaded red pen and turns to look at me.

“Joshua three weeks,” is all she says.

“Baby I know I said I am sorry. I know you did but still look at it from my perspective. I know it didn’t look good.”

“You promised me I was safe with you, that I could trust you and then this happens. Things between us had started to change even before you left then you were just gone. You could’ve died Joshua and I would have never known, hell I could’ve died and been buried, and you would’ve never known.”

She’s right. “I promise it’ll never happen again, baby.” Can you Joshua, can you really make that promise?”

“Yes, cause I’d break protocol to never let this happen again. But please tell me you're not interested in that chump you were out with.”

She just looks at me and gives me no response. “Savannah?”

“Joshua? No, I'm not interested in Nate. I was just tired of coming home and crying myself to sleep.”

“He could never handle you Savannah. You are way out of his league, and he had the nerve to ask you for your portion of the bill. Who does that?”

She chuckles. “I’m sure when I get to work Monday, I will be the talk of the office.”

I wince because I have a lot to make up for. “I’m sorry, babe.”

“Don’t say you’re sorry Joshua, what’s done is done.”
