Sky snorted. “They weren’t our friends. Not really. When we were hurting, they didn’t do anything to make it better. Oh, they pretended to. ‘Walter, Conflagration scored 1480 on the SAT, how did you do?’ ‘Conflagration, did you see Walter’s grade in spellcasting?’ It’s taken me a long time to put it all together. I was so lonely, so distraught, that I didn’t know what I was doing half the time.”

Thunder nodded. “Me, too. After we stopped hanging out, I missed you every day.”

Gina glanced from one to the other then stood. Stepping around Sky, she nudged him with her foot. “Sit with your friend. And then tell me why you two are not doing the naughty with each other. You’re so clearly in love.”

“Gina, it’s nothing against you…”

She grinned and picked up her wineglass again. “It never occurred to me it was.” She took a long sip. “But I’m thinking if the three of us are going to be together, we should betogether. In all ways. Me with you and with you, too. Me with both of you. And the two of you together. All ways.”

Thunder wrapped an arm around Sky’s waist. “It doesn’t bother you? If we make love to each other?”

She narrowed her eyes. “Can I be there? Even if I’m not part of it, sometimes?”

“Of course!” Sky affirmed. “We’re mates. We always want to be together.”

“Then let’s do it now. Have you boys ever, you know, done it with each other?”

Thunder snorted. “We tried once, but a girl walked in on us and raised a stink. She said some cruel things, took pictures, and threatened to spread them on social media. We were so horrified, we turned away from each other and never looked back.”

“A girl freaked you out badly enough to walk away from your mate?”

“Sounds ridiculous now,” he said. “But then. Maybe we just weren’t ready. And the idea of pictures of us together spread everywhere sounded so bad.”

“Basically,” Sky muttered.
