“Sheesh, yeah. I did kinda do that, didn’t I?”

“And two omegas approached Jaxson, asking for a formal pack transfer to British Columbia.”

I shoot upright, twisting to look at his face. “Really?”

He grins at me. “Yup.”

My heart is so full I think it might burst. Might just explode outta my chest and make a big mess everywhere.

“I’ve got more news,” Jonah says with a wicked grin.

“What else?”

“Given how many alphas the scourge killed, the elders of the Wolves of the Rising Moon packs have decided to forego all qualifications to become Pack Alpha. No fighting, no reproducing required.”

“Are you serious?” I squeal, earning a grunt from Mari.

“As a severed arm,” he says with a smirk.

Rafe groans, and Drago laughs.

“What? Too soon?” Jonah grins, and I fall back into the nest with the most important people in the world to me.

Rafeand I sneak off in the middle of the night, untangling ourselves from the nest to run in the cool night air.

We don’t speak mind-to-mind at first. We just run and enjoy the feeling of being home once again.

When the moon peeks out from behind a cloud bank, I give her a good, long howl of appreciation. Everything about this land, the trees, the scent, the soil, and rock, is all so ingrained into my being, into my identity, I can’t ever imagine leaving this place permanently.

Not even for a gorgeous compound in the middle of a big, beautiful city.

But maybe for a huge marble shower.

I have something to show you,Rafe says so suddenly. I startle in my tracks.Follow me.

He takes me down a trail we rarely run, through the middle of the pack housing and down to Thunderhead Lake.

The teal water is so clear, so breathtakingly beautiful it looks fake. Edited. But that’s just what glacier-fed lakes look like.

Fucking magic.

He leads us around the lake, to a building I’ve never seen before.

A house.

A brand new one at that.

Whose house is this?

It’s gorgeous. Ranch style, with gigantic windows facing the lake and a spot for a sweet little garden by the front door.

It’s our house, Willa. Big enough for us and your growing cadre of mates and even maybe some pups someday.

I’m speechless, so shocked I accidentally shift back to my skin.

“You built this for us?”

Rafe shifts too, and it takes more than a small amount of restraint not to eyeball his naughty bits.
