Ryan appeared in the doorway.
Her voice caught.
“What are you doing?” He stepped inside the office.
“I could ask you the same thing.”
“Me? I live here. This is my office. What’s your excuse?”
“I work here, remember?”
He took another step closer. “We’ll see how long that lasts.”
“Is that a threat?” She inched her fingers toward one of the knives.
“My wife didn’t ask permission before hiring you. You aren’t technically working for us.”
“Permission? Are you for real?”
“We’re married,” he said, as if that answered her question.
“I’m working for her. I filled out the paperwork.” Maya took a step toward the door. “Excuse me.”
He didn’t budge.
“Where’s Olivia?”
Anger flashed across his face. “You do know her.”
“Obviously. We’re identical twins.”
He lunged for her.
