“Did you change the name of the spa?” She actually looks worried.

“Why? Did you change your mind?”

“I changed my heart.”

Ah, hell, that’s sweet. So I tell her. “You’re sweet. No wonder I fell in love with you.”

We’re in the middle of full-on making out again, nudging into inappropriate territory for public snogging when Benji interrupts with a deliberate cough.

“Sorry to intrude, but you’re up, man.” With a smile, he adds, “I can take your place if you’re unable to perform your best man duties.”

He’s still after my title. The dick.

“Nice try, but I have this.” Talia’s hand in mine, I guide her to a chair next to Mom. Mom pats Talia’s hand and gives me a regal nod of approval. I’m certain my expression is love-drunk and dopey as I take the spot between my brothers at the right side of the arch. I can’t help myself. I’ve never been proposed to before. It’s exciting.

The music begins to play. Vivian’s friend, Marnie, and Cris precede the bride down the aisle.

Vivian meets Nate at the front, and Benji and I turn to face the officiant. During the vows, I steal a peek at Talia to see if she’s still here, or if she was a mirage. She’s here. She’s crying happy tears, her watery smile filling my heart to the brim and beyond.

I have a ton to be thankful for. For my brothers, who know when to meddle, and for the woman I met over a year ago who just proposed to me.

Life knocks you for loops most of the time. Very rarely, on days like today, it kicks some serious ass.
