Mya

Ihad just gotten home from work, and the first thing I did was pull out the binder we had on Alex Hoyt. How could that arrogant, unemotional, stubborn man create such intensely feeling pieces of art? I couldn’t imagine the work in front of me coming from him—I just couldn’t.

My cellphone rang, and I picked it up without looking. “Hello?”

“So, what happened today? You said something big in your text.” Meredith asked excitedly.

I set the binder back on the table. “Girl, you are not going to believe what I tell you. First off, remember that last night I said it would be a cold day in hell for me to ever knock on that man’s door?”

“Yes.”

“Well, did you feel the temperature drop last night?”

“What? You did not!”

“Oh, yes I did, and guess what? He’s the culprit that has been keeping me awake these last two weeks.”

“No way!” She laughed. “What did you say to him?”

“Well, I was so sleep-deprived that I pointed my finger in his face and told him to cut it out.”

“Did he laugh at you?”

“No! He sucked my finger into his mouth!”

Meredith grew silent and then burst out laughing. “What kind of a guy does that?”

“The kind that is crazy!” I said as I giggled. “But it gets even wilder, Mer. You aren’t going to believe what happened today.”

“Oh, let me guess, you woke up in his bed and had to do the walk of shame.”

“Not even hardly,” I snapped playfully. “No, today was the day that we started with our new client. He’s the new client!”

“Get the hell out! Are you serious?”

“I am dead serious. I’m not sure if this is going to be the best thing to ever happen to me or the hardest thing I have ever had to do.”

“Why do you say that? What would be so hard about representing him? Wait, is he the one that does all those paintings that you showed me in that book?”

“Yep! He’s the one.”

“Holy crap! Do you have a picture of this guy?”

“No, not yet, but I will soon.”

“I gotta see this guy.”

“You will soon. Before you know it, Alex Hoyt’s photo will be all over town.”

“I hope this does good things for your career.”

I frowned. “Yeah, I’m not sure about that.”

“Why? Is he going to be a nightmare to work with?”

“Of that I have no doubt, but that’s not the problem.”

“Then what is?”
