"Maybe you should ask her that, Eric."

"Nah, I think I am going to just forget about Aria. I don't need this shit in my life especially after my last girlfriend."

"You are smart, brother. I think that is wise," Jenna remarks.

"Thanks for letting me know about Aria and Jordan. I certainly was not expecting that.." My voice is shaky with disappointment.

"I am sorry, Eric. I really am. But you needed to know."

"I am going to go now. I need to think all of this through. Talk to you later." I end the call.

My gut feels as if a professional boxer just punched me in the stomach. Part of me is angry at Aria, and part of me is also angry at Jenna for tossing the information out about Jordan so casually during my call to her. I honestly had hoped for a better outcome with my sister; it is what it is.

I am better off without Aria. She is dishonest, and if she is sneaking around with another guy behind my back, then who knows what else she has fabricated for me. Hell, even what she has told me how she feels about me is unbelievable. I want nothing to do with her.

It is twenty past seven, and I am going to be late for work. With this emotional whirlwind, time flew by without me even realizing it.

Grabbing my keys and heading out my door, as I pull my door shut, I can see Aria standing by her door out of the corner of my eye.

"Eric! Are you okay?" She stands still.

"Yeah, got to get to work. I am late. See ya later," I refuse to even look at Aria.

"Eric, stop! What is going on?" Aria begins to chase me down the hall.

"Aria, I have to get going. I really am late for work."

Aria stops dead in her tracks. Her face turns pale, and her eyes well up with tears. "I knew it. You used me last night. How could I think you were any different than any other guy?" Aria begins to cry.

"Look, I have to go. I told you I am late. I will call you later," I walk away from Aria without looking back.

***

After a long day at work and the lack of sleep from the night before, I don't want to deal with Aria. Granted, I told her I would call her, but I don't have it in me to handle her weeping. Besides, she can be with Jordan and forget about me.

I sit down to relax on my couch and try to find something to watch on TV to occupy my mind when my phone rings. I let it ring until my voice message answers. Looking at the caller ID, it happens to be Aria.

Aria's message was about what I expected. She does not understand why I am not talking to her.

As long as she is with Jordan, she will have to continue to wonder.
