Page 8 of Two Doors Down

Feeling disappointed in myself, not only do I want to kick my own ass, but I want to shove my head in the sand and never come back up for air. I just had the perfect opportunity to have wine with this hot man who I cannot stop thinking of. Maybe it was my guilty conscience kicking in with Jenna, who knows. What I do know is I just blew a possible opportunity to spend time with Eric and maybe even more.

There is a knock on my door. I jump up from my couch and comb through my hair with my fingers. I then pinch my cheeks to get some blood flow in them. This method works in a squeeze replacing a trip to my bathroom to reapply blush.

To my surprise standing outside of my door is Eric with the bottle of wine in hand.

"Hey Eric, everything okay?"

"Yes, everything is fine. Other than I refuse to drink alone." Eric holds up the bottle of wine. "I am going to ask one last time for you to share this with me or it will collect dust on my countertop until you do."

"Oh Eric, I would love to, but I am really busy." (Lie, lie, lie).

"Busy? You mean your bathroom and dishwasher cannot wait or do you have some company coming over? Or maybe you need to paint your toenails?" Eric teases.

"You got me. I have a hot date with a bottle of red nail polish just waiting for me in my bathroom," I joke.

"I certainly do not want to keep you from your nail polish. I mean I know how important it is for you," Eric smirks.

"Yeah, you know how us ladies are. Our nail polish is priority."

"Seriously Aria, you are going to make me drink alone? I may never be able to forgive you for that."

"Well in that case, it sounds like I have no choice. Come on in." I open the door wider for him.

Eric strides inside of my apartment and sets the bottle of wine on the countertop. "Do you have a wine opener?"

"Yeah, first drawer on the right of the stove." I point.

Eric finds the opener and pops open the bottle of vino. "Glasses?"

"Above the sink." I point again.

Eric pours us each a glass of wine and swings back over to my couch, "Have a seat with me."

Sitting down next to Eric but making sure not too close, I raise my glass. "Cheers, to a new beginning."

"Cheers!" Eric beams.

We both take a sip of our wine as we stare into one another's eyes. The way he looks at me makes me want to lean in and kiss him, yet I know I do not dare.

A moment of silence passes by, and Eric breaks the awkwardness. "What would happen if we drank this entire bottle?" He inspects my eyes for my reaction.

"Hmmm, I don't know. We both may pass out on my couch or decide to break open another bottle!" I laugh.

"I like the thought of another bottle," Eric grins. "I mean, that is if you wanted one?"

"Are you trying to get me drunk and take advantage of me?" I wink.

"Maybe, do you want me to?"

"Maybe," I respond, taking a sip of my wine.

Eric slides closer to me, and I can feel my heartbeat faster as if I had just run a mile sprint. My palms begin to fill with sweat as my nerves escalate.

"Are you going to give me an honest answer?"

"Real answer to what?" I nearly choke on my wine.

"If you want me to get you drunk and take advantage of you?"
