When they were finished, Aaron rolled onto his back and pulled up his britches. After both of them could breathe normally again, they went to hold each other at the same time. That made them laugh.
It wasn’t long before Matilda and Aaron stared up at the stars together. The night sky was like looking into her future with endless possibilities all wrapped in twinkling little specs of light.
“I guess I would want to see all of Europe,” Aaron said as they spoke about all the places they wanted to travel.
“I’d want to visit some of the places that I’ve read about in stories and poetry,” Matilda replied. “The second that I read about a new place, I always find myself wanting to go there right away.”
“You are one passionate woman,” Aaron said.
When Matilda turned her head to face him, she realized that he was looking at her, except it was as though he had gotten lost in her beauty.
It was then that Matilda knew not only that she was experiencing the very butterflies that Ann had spoken of…but she also knew that she was in love with Aaron.
