“Tiero is violent and knows no other way.”

“There are plenty of people who will fight for us if it ever came to that. I understand that you’re anxious that something might happen to me, and I love you for it. But are you really willing to forgo your own happiness and mine for something that might or might not happen?

“I’m telling you right here and now. This is not a rash decision for me. I have considered the consequences… to me, my family and my friends. And still, you come out the priority. I want to be with you, only you.”

His unshakable confidence is inspiring. He knows who he is and where he stands in life. And he’s not afraid to go after what he wants. Even if it could cost him his life.

“Ella, Idon’t do things in half measures. I said that to you yesterday, and I meant it. If we’re doing this, we’re doing this properly. No fear, no what-ifs, only open and honest communication.

“I’m all in. And I’d want you to be all in. Are you?”

“Yes,” I nearly scream. “I am all in too, Aiden. I want to be with you. I want to build a life with you. I’m madly, deeply in love with you.”

His smile is blinding and evaporates any fear that might have hidden in the recesses of my mind.

Aiden takes my hand across the table and tugs. I get up and launch myself onto his lap, not caring where we are. My hands cup his face as he pulls me against his body. Our smiles are huge as we stare into each other’s eyes.

“I’m all in,” I whisper, and it might as well be a vow.

“I’m all in,” Aiden replies softly, the deep timbre of his voice vibrating through me.

And then we seal our promise with a kiss.

Unlike my frantically beating heart, the kiss is slow and sensual, underlying what we just promised… to be there for each other, to go on this journey together.

Aiden’s tongue sweeps over the closed seam of my lips, seeking entrance as our kiss turns more demanding. I open eagerly, not withholding the soft moan escaping my throat. My hands travel into his soft hair, fisting it in order to hold on to something, while Aiden’s roam greedily over my back and down my arm, before sneaking underneath my sweater. The tension inside me grows with every skillful caress of Aiden’s tongue, liquid warmth flooding my sex.

The clearing of a throat distantly registers in my brain and after it happens a second time, we reluctantly pull apart. Our waitress nervously taps her pen against her notepad. “Dessert?” she asks.

She probably was sent over to dislodge us from each other; this is a family restaurant, after all. And even though we’re tucked away in a corner, we might have drawn too much attention to ourselves with our PDA.

Aiden looks at me, his eyes dark with desire, and I fight the blush that threatens to turn my cheeks red again. “I think we need to celebrate this first day of the rest of our lives with some decadent dessert. What do you think?”

“I’ll never say no to dessert,” I answer.

“Noted,” Ade replies with his trademark cheeky grin.

I get off Aiden’s lap and sit back in my chair, daring a glance at the rest of the restaurant. People are eating their dinners, but a few look our way, amused expressions on their faces.

“Do the people here know you?” I ask, suddenly a little concerned about his reputation.

Aiden chuckles. “I’d say so… mostly through the brewery.”

“Oh… Aren’t you worried what they might think about you?” I ask, straightening my napkin on my lap to keep my hands occupied.

“No. What they’re thinking is their business. Besides, I’m more than happy for everyone to know I found my girl.” Warmth surges through me.His girl.I like the sound of that.

“The girls in your self-defense class will be disappointed. Lots of them were ogling you. You might have a sudden drop in numbers.”

“I’m okay with that. I only want people there who are interested in what I have to teach,” Aiden says. “Besides, I only want you ogling me, and you did do a fine job of that earlier.”

My cheeks grow hot again. “Am I that obvious?”

“Well, I can tell. I get a tingling in my stomach whenever you look at me.”

Swoon.

My moment is interrupted, when the molten lava cake we ordered is being served. Saliva pools in my mouth at the delicious smell of chocolate. Impatiently, I grab my fork and dig in. I take the first bite and close my eyes, almost moaning out loud when gooey chocolate hits my tastebuds.
