God, that’s good.

The chocolate is melting on my tongue, and I lick my lips. Opening my eyes, I’m confronted by my very hungry-looking man. But it’s not hunger for food.

Aiden’s jaw tightens as I repeat the exercise. This time, though, I do it with my eyes open and focused on him. His eyes darken, his features tighten. I can sense his desire for me and it gives me wings to fly.

“You’re playing a dangerous game, Sunshine,” he mutters, his voice having gone deeper.

I bat my eyelashes innocently. “I have no idea what you mean.” Holding out my fork to him, I say, “Would you like to have a taste?”

Aiden’s gaze is burning me alive as his lips close over the fork and he slides the piece of cake into his mouth. This time, it’s me who nearly has a coronary as he mimics me.

My breathing quickens and my nipples pebble against the lace of my bra as I watch on, mesmerized. Aiden’s jaw muscles flex as he chews, and when he swallows, my attention is drawn to the strong column of his neck.

I had my arms slung around his powerful neck earlier when we made out… I let out a long sigh as my breathing speeds up and my core tightens. The ache between my thighs returns.

And oh god… he licks his lips, his tongue darting out, tracing the contours of his mouth.

That’s enough!

I raise my hand and call out, “Check please.” We need to get the hell out of here. Now!

Chapter Twenty-Seven

Ella

Thecarridehomeis made in silence. I am buzzing. I can’t wait to get home and into Aiden’s big, beautiful bed—

“I won’t be sleeping with you tonight,” Aiden interrupts my thoughts.

What?!

“Why on earth not?” I ask, and if I’m sounding shocked, it’s because I am! All night long the tension between us has been building. It needs an outlet… a lightning strike and I’m sure there’ll be thunder too.

“I’m all in,” I remind him. “The no hanky-panky rule doesn’t apply anymore.”

“True,” Aiden agrees.

“Then why? You want me and I want you… and you’re going away.”

“Exactly. I have to leave early in the morning, and I don’t want to rush our first time together,” he says, moving his head from side to side to release tension. “I’ve waited what appears to be an eternity for you. I want to savor you and take my sweet time.”

I look at him with wide eyes. He’s kidding, right?

I’m burning up inside. The need to have him fill me is almost primal.

“Remember, I’m in this for the long haul. There’s no rush.”

Oh yes, there is.

“I want to fully appreciate you, cherish and treasure you.”

That leaves me speechless.

“I’ve had some bad times in my life. You’re the reward.”

Aww.

“There’s also one other thing you should know,” Aiden says with a sober expression.
