“Not an experience I need to repeat,” I mutter drily, as my body slowly calms down. “Thank God you’ve got lightning fast reflexes. I’m glad for all your training,” I say as I let go of my tight grip on the door handle.
“I’m sorry, I lost your phone. It’s somewhere in the back of the car. I hope I didn’t break the screen or something.”
Aiden turns on the internal light, and I blink a few times, trying to adjust to the sudden burst of light. “If it is broken, I can always get a new one. Don’t worry about it.”
I unbuckle my seatbelt and turn in my seat, looking into the back. I can’t see it. “Damn, I’ll have to go digging around to find it.Let’s hope it didn’t slip into a crevice between the suitcases or we’ll have to unload the car.”
What a nightmare that would be! I’m sure Average Joe wouldn’t appreciate his entire luggage getting wet.
I move closer to the center and squeeze my body between the seats. God, this car really is tiny.
I move the bags as best as I can in search of Aiden’s phone, when suddenly…
