“Okay,” I squeaked, and pressed the accelerator down.

Please forgive me.

CHAPTER SIX

Aidan

What the hell?

My eyes blinked open, but they were fuzzy as hell.

What happened?

I reached up to rub the sleep from them as I tried to put the pieces back together again. The last thing I remembered was streetlights flashing past the window. I’d been so lost in a revenge haze that it had taken me a good ten minutes to realize that I was heading in the wrong direction.

My head lolled to the side, and a face came into view.

Cait.

She wore a sheepish, concerned expression… but I wasn’t sure why. I remembered being worried about her… had we gotten in an accident?

She didn’t look hurt.

No.

She looked upset, and her eyes flickered between me and the bottle tucked into the cup holder.

I followed her gaze. The half empty bottle looked innocent enough, but from the way she was anxiously chewing on her lip… no.

Surely not.

Cait wouldn’t do something like that… would she?

No.

But the gilt in her eyes was unmistakable.

She fucking drugged me!

Her eyes widened as my face distorted, and she realized that I knew what she’d done.

“Cait-”

“I’m sorry, Aidan. I am. I just didn’t know what else to do. You were raving mad!” She said in a rush, reaching for my arm, which I promptly snatched away.

“Where the fuck are we?” I growled, my eyes darting around. It was pretty dark, I couldn’t make out much outside the beam of the headlights, but I thought I could see a building looming just up ahead.

“The Hamptons,” she squeaked, pressing herself against the driver’s door like she wished she could just vanish into thin air.

“The Hamptons!” I roared, and she shrank back further.

Holy shit!

I had to get out of this car before I did something I’d regret.

“I’m sorry, I am. But I didn’t want you to get hurt.”

I scoffed. Like her apologies were going to fix this.
