Well, that was good. For my plan to work, I needed not to stop.

I left the garage and hurried upstairs, but when I reached my bedroom door, I carried on passed it. Cullen’s office was at the end of the hall, and what I needed was in his desk drawer.

I peeked inside, making sure the coast was clear before I padded across to the desk and yanked open the drawer. At the back was a bottle of pills.

I knew, because a couple of weeks ago, Quinn had been playing in here and Cullen had nearly had a heart attack when he’d seen her rifling through his drawer.

I grabbed the bottle, quickly scanning the label. Rohypnol. Perfect.

Grabbing a couple of bottles of water from the mini bar in the corner, I slipped a pill into one of them, waiting until it had dissolved before I put the cap back on.

Thankfully the water remained clear.

I hated to think what Cullen used these drugs for, but I’d seen enough businessmen dragged out of this office in years gone by to suspect it was his way of getting what he wanted from them.

I shuddered.

It was easy to forget that the jovial man I’d known my whole life was a mobster. That my parents had been involved in the same kind of stuff.

Not the time.

I had to stop Aidan doing something reckless.

I shook the bottle to make sure the pill had fully dissolved, stopped by my room to grab a jacket and then returned to Aidan.

“Drink up,” I commanded as I threw him the drugged bottle.

This is a bad idea… what if he figures it out?

He frowned at it in confusion.

“You’re always moaning at me for not hydrating… now it’s my turn to get on your case.”

He glared at me, but he didn’t argue. He unscrewed the cap, thankfully not noticing that the seal had already been broken and chugged back half the bottle.

It would take a few minutes to start taking effect, so I had to get him in the car quick, or else there was no way I’d be able to move his weight. But it was in his system and that was all that mattered. He could be mad at me later. Now that he was going to live long enough to see later.

“Right. Let’s go.” I snagged the keys from the key cabinet and slipped into the driver’s seat. He opened the passenger door and flung the bag of weapons in the footwell, settling in the leather seat.

“I don’t like this,” he muttered, slamming the door and making me flinch.

I hated what I’d had to do to him. Drugging someone to get my way was not my style… it made me like them. But if he rushed into some backwater hell associated with the Loro Ombra, he’d be shot on sight, and Cullen would be burying another child.

Yes.

That was a good enough reason. Unselfish.

“Tough shit,” I sniped back, starting the car. The 1960’s engine purred to life, still perfect even after decades. Aidan had completely restored it, and next to his bike, it was his prize possession. It actually surprised me he’d agreed to let me drive it so easily. Although, I supposed the fate of his car wasn’t at the forefront of his mind after learning his baby sister had been murdered.

“Where are we headed?” I asked him as he dug the remote for the garage door out of the glove compartment.

“Head to Astoria. They’ve got a weapons storage facility there.”

Bile rose in my throat.

He wanted to rush a weapons storage warehouse? Just one man, against God knows how many when they had unlimited weapons.

Well, if I hadn’t been certain my plan was the right thing to do, I was now.
