“And it wasn’t intentional?” Giselle asked.

“Intentional? I didn’t even know you guys were recording that day,” said Jade.

“And what about Griffith Park? The prop that nearly crushed Giselle onstage,” Asher brought up.

“Or those technical issues at Sunfair Fest,” added Blaze.

Jade shook her head. “I heard about all that. It sounded so scary! But it had nothing to do with me. I don’t have the connections necessary to pull off something like that. Besides, I would never actually harm anyone. Ever.”

“So, you’re telling me those were just coincidences?” he pushed.

Jade nodded fervently. “Yes. I promise I’ve come clean about everything now. I’m so sorry for what I did. I was out of my mind, not that it’s any excuse.”

“Reminder that Miss Haverland offers this information freely, in the hopes that you will accept her apology and keep this little mess out of the tabloids,” Renee chimed in. “If you want to take the litigious route, we could be in court for a long time.”

“That will be up to Giselle to decide,” said Bruce.

Blaze turned to look at her, expecting to see the apoplectic rage he had seen in Giselle at their very first meeting in this very room. Instead, she was smiling benevolently at Jade.

“No,” she said firmly. “I don’t want to pursue anything. Jade, I accept your apology.”

“Are you sure?” Bruce pressured.

“It took a lot of courage to come here and admit what you’ve done to my face. Most people would never come clean. I appreciate that,” she said.

“Maybe one day we can even be friends,” said Jade hopefully.

“Don’t push it,” Renee hissed to her as they both stood up.

“One day,” Giselle confirmed brightly, shaking Jade’s manicured hand.

Once the pop star and her PR agent had left the conference room, Bruce turned to the trio and said, “You handled that much better than expected.”

“It’s exhausting to be angry all the time. Besides, I get it: these two are enough to drive anyone crazy,” Giselle laughed, gesturing to Blaze and Asher.

“What about you?” Blaze teased, tousling her hair.

She gave them both a wink. “Lucky for me, I was crazy to begin with.”
