Things I’m sure of right now:

It’s Saturday night.

I’ve been drinking since about four this afternoon.

I’m tipsy, but not drunk.

Aiden Murphy is walking me back to my dorm, and I’m pretty damn sure the kiss we just shared was hotter than any sexual experience I’ve ever had...in my life.

What does that say about me?

It says I’m out of my fucking mind.

It also says Aiden Murphy is so far out of my league that I should back away quickly and quietly. But being around this giant of a man clears away the stress in my head the way nothing has before.

He stops the noise.

Murphy navigates the halls of my dorm like a pro. A few people high five him, commenting on the Crusaders’ win. The security guard at the desk tells him “good game.” I’ve just unlocked my door when Tessa and a few of her jersey-chaser friends come out of their room.

Oh. Shit.

As I get the door open, I hear, “Oh, you’ve got to be fucking kidding me. You’re fucking Miss Goody Two Shoes now? What the hell, Murphy. Way to move on. I guess our baby meant nothing to you?” Tessa has worked herself up to full-on shrieking.

The few students left in their rooms at this point on a Saturday night crack open their doors to see what’s going on. Guess this is better than reality TV.

Murphy’s shoulders stiffen as he turns to the shrieking lunatic. “What the fuck, Tessa? We were never together, and there was never a baby to begin with. How could a false pregnancy mean anything?” His fingers find my wrist as he pulls me behind him. “Go find another jock to chase. We never started to even be over.”

Tessa walks up to Murphy and slaps him across the face...hard, leaving a red handprint in her wake.

I hate girls like her. They get off on drama, humiliation, and hurting someone else. I refuse to let her do that to Murphy.

Screw that.

Stepping around him, I get in her face. “Get the hell away from him, you crazy bitch.”

Moving forward, I shove Murphy into my dorm room, then spin around to look at Tessa and, more importantly, her friends. Skewering them with an aristocratic glare I learned from my mother I say, “Make sure she gets her shit together. Everyone here just saw what happened, and it would have been caught on tape by the cameras at either end of the hall. If Murphy wanted to, he could bring this in front of the school’s disciplinary board. Unless you want your friend to be kicked out of school, or known as a crazy bitch, you’d better put a leash on her.”

I turn to glare at the gawkers peeking out of their doors. “Have you seen enough, or do I need to give you all a play-by-play of what’s about to happen?” Doors shutting is the only sound I hear besides my breathing.

As I step into my dorm room, I hear applause behind me and know I’m not the only one in my building that already has those four pegged for the athlete addicts they are. I slam my door closed behind me, lock it, and look at Murphy’s big form sitting on my bed. Bending down, I grab one of the instant cold packs from the first aid kit under my bed. Squeezing to activate it, I place it on Murphy’s face. “Hold this here for a minute. I’ve got water and Snapple in my fridge. You want some?”

Holding the ice pack to his face, Murphy just stares at me before finally shaking his head. “No, I’m good.”

I grab myself a Snapple and reach for the pretzels on top of my mini-fridge and hold them out to Murph.

He shakes his head again.

“You want to watch a movie?” I kick off my booties and drop down into my papasan chair.

Murphy thinks about it before shaking his head a third time.

“Come on, Murph. You’re never this quiet.” I take a page out of his book and throw a pretzel at his head. Those guys are always throwing something at someone. “Are you ok? Don’t listen to anything that crazy girl said. She’s not right in the head.”

“I’m tired, Sabrina. My whole body hurts. Thanks for the ice pack, but my face is about the only part of my body that doesn’t hurt. I just want to lie down. I’m thinking lying here with you would be really nice, but I’m trying to figure out if I’d even fit in this small-ass bed of yours.” Murphy’s lips pull up on one side into a sexy grin, and my nipples perk up.

I freaking love that lopsided grin.
