“I guess you should probably go home to what I’m assuming is a massive bed,” I force myself to say the words but hope he doesn’t leave.

“It’s a king. When I get my first place, I’m buying one of those California king beds just so I can have extra room.”

Rolling up the empty bag of pretzels, I get up to toss it into the trash can, then turn to face Murphy. “I’m thinking you’re not going to be able to spread out on my little twin bed.”

There he goes, shaking his damn head again. “Nope. But my bed at home doesn’t have what this bed has. Can I stay here, Brina?” Those green eyes finally meet mine. “I just want to sleep, and I really don’t want to be alone.”

Pretty sure a little piece of my heart just gave itself to him. My insides warm and jump at the idea of sharing a bed with Murphy in any way. Then my brain catches up, and I realize he said he didn’t want to be alone, not that he wanted to be with me. Fuck. Is that man speak? Does he just want a warm body? Does it matter if it’s me? Am I overanalyzing this?

As if Aiden Murphy can read my mind, he reaches out and grabs my hips, pulling me toward him. He lowers his head to lean on my sternum, so I place my bottle down on the desk and run my fingers through his reddish-brown hair. Murphy groans out his approval.

I massage his head for a minute before lifting his face to mine. “Let me get changed and turn off the light.”

Murphy nods his head. What the hell is with him and this quiet nodding thing?

I’ve never seen Aiden Murphy quiet in all the years I’ve known him.

Walking to my dresser, I grab a pair of cotton pink plaid shorts and a white tank top with a tiny sparkly tiara on it. The word “Princess” is embroidered in pink under the tiara. Let’s see what he says when he sees this.

Luckily, all the singles in this building have their own bathroom. If you don’t have a single, you have two bedrooms connected by a lounge area and a bathroom. I’d much rather have the smaller single.

I change quickly, brush my hair and teeth, and walk back into my room just as Murphy is kicking off his jeans. He’s already gotten rid of his t-shirt, and I may have to wipe the drool from my floor. Just a little...or maybe a whole lot.

Holy Mary, mother of God, Aiden Murphy’s body is magnificent.

Even the nuns at my old school would have to admit their starched white panties got wet at this sight. Every muscle on his body looks like it’s been carved out of stone. My fingers itch to touch his skin.

Murphy’s always been swoony. He’s funny and can be sweet when he wants. He’s protective and loyal. That all just makes this insanely yummy package in front of me even yummier, and I’m not ashamed to admit I want to lick all of those muscles from head to toe.

Unfortunately for Murphy, most of those muscles are already turning nasty shades of purple from the game.

“Jesus, Murphy. Does your body always take such a beating?”

Once I’m standing in front of him, my eyes trace up his powerful arms and down his defined abs, stopping at the elastic band of his navy-blue boxer briefs doing a lousy job of hiding his erection. Stepping next to the bed, I throw back the dark violet comforter and violet and green, plaid sheet. I turn my head to him. “You want to be against the wall or on the outside?”

He walks over to the switch on the wall by the door and turns off the light, leaving only the faintest flicker from the streetlight outside floating in through my window. “You get in first, Princess.”

Doing as I’m told, I crawl into bed and wait for Murphy to figure out how he’ll situate himself. Lying on his back, he puts his arm around me and pulls until I’m flush with his side. I turn into him and rest my head on his shoulder as his arm curls around me. Murphy exhales a deep breath. “Nice pajamas, by the way. I always knew it.”

I smile and I swear he relaxes.

“Murph?” I ask him, barely above a whisper.

“Yeah, Princess?” His voice has turned deep and gravelly.

“I might have thought of you when I saw these pj’s.”

I feel him swallow, then say, “Pretty sure I think about you all the time lately.” He kisses the top of my head gently. “Go to sleep, Princess.”

I feel his hold on me loosen, and his breathing even out within seconds. I never thought the first time I had a guy in my bed all night, it would be to actually sleep.

As I drift off to sleep, I wonder if I’m already dreaming.
