Declan

Yeah... that was so not what we practiced on the ride over here. Pretty sure the squealing in the room is coming from Nattie, but when it gets louder, and I get shoved out of the way as the girls circle Belles, it starts to sound like every female in the room is making the same noise. And there are a whole lot of females in that room.

Even Rocky leaves the room.

Cooper wraps an arm around me. “Congrats, man. I’m guessing Nana’s ring means there’s a wedding coming with that baby?” He’s trying to hold back his laughter, but when I start to laugh, he does too. Then Brady, Murphy, Bash, and Linc follow us over the edge.

Murphy slaps my back. “Dude, I was sure I was gonna be the first one of us to knock somebody up. So fucking glad it was you. So, shot-gun wedding? Really?”

I punch his shoulder. Hard.

“Fuck off, Murph. I asked her to marry me before we found out she was pregnant.” But even that doesn’t wipe the smile off my face. Belle is literally glowing across the room as she stands in front of the kitchen’s big brick fireplace.

Bash shoves Murphy out of the way and shakes my hand. “Congrats, Dec. You’re a lucky man.”

“The luckiest,” I tell them.

Brady smiles as he steps in front of Murphy. “When’s the baby due?”

“Babies,” I answer.

Cooper spits out his water. “I’m sorry. What?”

“He said babies, son. As in two.” Dad joins the group of guys, wraps an arm over my shoulder and smiles. “Congratulations, Dec. Annabelle just told me the good news.”

“Thanks, old man. You ready to be a grandpa?” I ask, goading him. My dad is in his mid-forties, but he doesn’t look much older than me. I can’t wait for our kids to call him “Grandpa.”

“I don’t know, Dec. When’s the due date?” Dad cocks his eyebrow.

I smile and tell the group, “July seventeenth.” Then I turn back to Dad. “We’re not even messing with your training camp, old man.”

Dad hollers over the noise, “Katie, where will we be on July seventeenth?”

Our group slowly moves to converge back into one big crowd with the women, instead of two small groups, and my hand finds Belle’s back. I kiss her head, and she leans in against me.

“We’ll probably be home from the hospital by then, Joe.” Katherine smiles big and bright. “My due date is July third.” She wraps an arm around Dad’s waist, and he kisses her lips.

Carys squeals.

“What?” Murphy asks with a bewildered look on his face.

Sabrina grasps his hand and smiles up at Murphy. “I think your mom is pregnant, Murph.”

“Ah hell, Coach. Seriously?” He wipes his hand down his face, and then looks at his mom. “Was it like... an Immaculate Conception?” Murph is seriously struggling.

“She’s not a virgin, dude,” Bash tells him.

Murphy shoves him. “Fuck off, Bash.”

“Aiden James Murphy.” Katherine glares at her son. “Language.”

Carys laughs and elbows her brother. “You got middle-named by Mom.”

“Sorry, Mom.” Murphy glares at Carys before adding, “Shut the front door.” He smiles at Nattie, then looks at his mother. “Is that better, Mom?”

“Much.” She smiles happily.

“Seriously... You’re pregnant? You guys really...” Murph doesn’t finish the sentence because Dad smacks the back of his head.
