Samand I are sitting at the kitchen table the following day when my phone vibrates with a text.

Belles:Are you coming to the Kings game today?

Amelia:I’m not sure what we’re doing.

Belles:Woo Hoo. You’re finally a WE!!!

Amelia:You are too much.

Belles:Nope. I’m just enough.

Belles:So are you AND Sam coming to the Kings game today? It’s at 4 pm.

Amelia:Well... Lenny kind of asked me to meet her there.

Amelia:But I think I like the idea of being in your box better. I think I’d feel more comfortable there. Would you be okay with that?

Sam leans over my shoulder and skims through the texts. “I like the idea of you being in her box too. It paints a pretty picture.” He smirks, and I’m embarrassed to admit I’m confused.

“What the hell are you talking about?” When his eyebrows waggle like a stupid cartoon character, it clicks. “You’re a pig.”

A kiss is pressed against my lips. “Yup. But I’m your pig.”

Belles:Wait. I’m confused.

Belles:Are you telling me you talked to Lenny about the whole long-lost sibling thing, and I’m only just hearing about it?

Amelia:Sorry. It was yesterday. And there was too much going on.

Belles:I expect the down and dirty on this one day next week.

Amelia:Works for me. So can I use your box as a buffer?

Amelia:Is everyone going to the game?

Belles: Of course you can! And yup – we’ll all be there. Coop is even going. His flight got pushed back until later tonight. So you’ll be getting all sorts of Sinclairs.

Amelia:You’re the best, Belles.

Belles:Of course I am.

Belles:See you at 4!

When I put the phone down and look up, it’s to find Sam sitting with his arms crossed over his chest. Waiting. “So, are we going to the Kings game today?”

“Is that okay with you? We can be in Belle’s box and then either stop by the Kingston’s box or ask them to stop by Belle’s. What do you think?” I ask, not sure which way I think would be less awful. I suck at meeting new people. With the amount of moving around I’ve done, I should be better at it. But I’ve made a career out of trying not to get close to people. And I’m not even sure how I feel about all this yet, but I know I want to take the next step.

Sam sips his coffee as Nonna walks into the room. “Of course, it’s okay with him. He just wants you to be happy. You met two of them yesterday, meet the rest today and get it over with. Then you bring them all here, and I will cook a feast. My boys are in love with sisters.” She kisses each of us and walks right back out of the room.

I turn back to Sam. “How did she know?”

“The walls have ears, principessa,” is yelled back into the room, and the two of us burst into laughter.

When Sam and I stop at my apartment that afternoon so I can change clothes, I realize something.

As I slide my Watkins jersey over my head, Sam sits on my bed, watching. “What are you thinking so hard about over there, Snow?”
