I turn my gaze to Callie and wrap my arms tighter around her waist.

“We are doing it for us, Callie, yeah? To make things right with Crone and everyone else. Others might need our support.”

She nods. “Yeah. But I come first, yeah?”

I laugh loudly. “Brat.” I kiss her nose. “I love you.”

She tangles her fingers in my hair, making every cell of my body sing.

“We are crazy, huh?” I say, smiling at her.

“I am crazy about you,” she says, catching my lips in a kiss that makes me untimely hard. “In case…”—she licks her lips as her eyes glisten with mischief—“…this is a bad decision”—she bites her bottom lip, and my heart gives out a worried thud—“can we go to the cabin now for some alone time?”

Oh, petal, you are trouble.

My entire body stirs up from her words.

“Yeah.” I grin and pick her up in my arms. She kisses me as the boat swerves to make a U-turn and kicks into speed. Her happy laughter trills in the air as I stomp toward the cabin, carrying her in my arms. “We have half an hour until all hell might break loose again.”
