Willow’s laughtercatches the attention of a few of our friends as we approach, hand in hand. I’m trying to convince her to let me yell that we’re sleeping together, the way I did only weeks ago to get Max and Evie to stop talking, but she refuses. Apparently, I need to work on my negotiation skills with her.

Promises of sexual favors didn’t work.

She’s never been one to swoon over flowers, but her love of Twix and most other chocolate candy bars I thought would at least have her considering letting me announce our relationship with flair.

Nope.

She’s not budging.

Her reasoning?

If Max suspected something, if he saw our love even though we weren’t together, so did everyone else. There’s no reason to make a big fuss over it. She wants to let it be what it is.

We don’t need to announce it because it’s not going to make a damn bit of difference in our circle.

I have to admit, my girl is right, but that doesn’t mean I don’t want to claim her in front of everyone.

“Finally coming out of the closet?” I hear Kendall whisper to LT as we slide up next to her and Evie.

“Yeah. You should try it,” I say, catching her eye. Kendall’s stare hardens but she doesn’t stomp off like I expect her to. Probably because my brother is only a few feet away, listening to our conversation.

I saw them sneak away earlier. They were sly enough no one else caught on but their secret is going to be exposed eventually.

“I’d like to propose a toast,” Max announces, standing on one of the loungers around the pool. Everyone turns to give him their full attention. “To great friends and family. Thank you for being here today. This is exactly what my dad would have wanted, and even though he’s not here, I imagine he’s smiling down on us today. Also, to my best friend and my sister, Lo. It’s about damn time they figured their shit out.”

“Maxwell,” Tammy scolds.

“Sorry, Mom,” he mumbles, but keeps his glass held high as he continues. “To two people who mean the world to me and to each other,” he states, gazing in our directions. “May she give you hell for as long as you let her.”

Our friends and family laugh, raising their glasses in the air and shouting, “Cheers.”

“And you thought you were getting out of an announcement,” I whisper against LT’s ear before tugging it with my teeth. When I pull back to stare into her eyes, I find them rolling at my comment. “What?”

“I said it was inappropriate for you to yell we were having sex.”

“First comes love.” I kiss her forehead. “Then comes marriage.” I kiss her cheek. “Then comes little Finns in a baby carriage.”

Pressing my lips to her, I silence her protests. When she pushes against my chest, I release her, unable to contain my laugh at the expression on her face.

“You think you’re hilarious, don’t you?” I can tell she’s trying to hold back her own laugh. Her lips are pressed together in a smile.

She’s happy.

She’s mine.

Which means I’m happy.

I don’t care who knows it.

“I have my moments. You can’t say I’m wrong.”

“I don’t see a ring on my finger,” she challenges. When I open my mouth, she places her hand over it. “Don’t go getting any ideas, Finn. It was a joke.”

“Whatever you say.” My words are muffled by her fingers, but I know she heard me, rolling her eyes again.

“Can you two stop eye-fucking each other for five seconds,” Kendall growls, her voice filled with irritation.
