“She will be. She just needs to figure out what she wants. I know she really likes your brother but she’s also afraid. I think her feelings are what scare her the most.”

“I’ll kick his ass if he breaks her heart.”

“No, you won’t. Because that’s not what Kendall would want. She can fight her own battles. If he hurts her, she’ll hurt him back. It’ll be ugly.” Which is what worries me. Because I love Declan like a brother and Kendall like a sister. A war between them would be like a war in the family.

“I feel like I should have told you it was Dec even though you didn’t want to know,” Finn confesses, kissing the top of my head.

“It wouldn’t have made any difference. Kendall wasn’t ready to talk about it. She still isn’t. She’s confused. If I hadn’t caught him sneaking in tonight, I still wouldn’t know who he was.”

“Maybe I should talk to my brother. My dad said something that had me thinking maybe this was more than just a fling, but how he reacted earlier … I need to find out what really happened tonight.”

“About that …” I start, letting my voice trail off as I turn in his arms so I’m facing him. “The hall was dark, and I may have thought Declan was you when he walked in.”

“I’m not surprised. Same height, same build.”

He’s not going to like what I have to say next, so before I speak, I place my hand over his heart. “And I wasn’t expecting anyone else to be sneaking in our apartment.”

“Willow,” he says, his voice filled with warning.

“And I may have been standing in the doorway waiting for you.” He growls, not liking where this is headed, but I can’t not tell him, so I spill the last tidbit of information. “Naked.”

“What?” he yells.

“Shhh. Kendall is trying to sleep. I’m not even sure she knows what happened.”

“My brother saw you naked?” he asks, not bothering to lower his voice.

“It was dark. I could barely see him, so I’m not sure how much he saw. Maybe a boob,” I try to joke, but the thunderous expression on Finn’s face tells me he doesn’t find me or the situation the least bit funny.

“I’m going to have to kill him now.” He makes the statement sound so simple. Like a decision has already been made.

“No, you don’t. Plus, it’s not like I let him touch me. All of this,” I say, scooting away from him and running my hands down the front of my body, “belongs to you and only you. Always you.”

Finn let’s out a possessive growl as he flips me on my back and hovers over me.

“Mine.” Aggression and love combine to make the single word take on a whole new meaning.

“Yours,” I agree, smiling up at him. “What are you gonna do with it is my question?”

“I think you know exactly what I’m going to do, my little tree.”

His voice is filled with promise, his words soft and sweet as he makes love to me. Showing me with his body everything I already know.

I belong to him, and he belongs to me.

Heart. Body. Soul.
