Best.Distraction. Ever.

And totally worth the fact I lost two hours of time I would have otherwise dedicated to studying. Alone. In my dorm room that has started to feel like a jail cell without Piper here. Thankfully, I still feel like I aced my exam.

Which makes me want to believe maybe I can do this.

Do great in school, keep my scholarship, and have a little fun on the side.

Still, when Micah left, he asked about his boundaries. Thetermshe was waiting for me to set so we couldnegotiatea deal that worked for both of us.

Which is why I’m behind the circulation desk at the library, my pen poised, ready to make a list of rules we both need to stick to. The only problem is I can’t think of anything.

1.

That’s as far as I’ve gotten. Because every time I’ve come up with something I decide against it before I can write it down.

I get why he wants me to set the terms. I’m fine with it. I’m not okay with the terms feeling like a punishment.

Maybe I’m going about this all wrong. Perhaps, instead of a list of negatives, of things he can’t do, I should make a list of things I want. A list of my needs. I realize I’m going to have to include a few items more in line with rules, but why not have a little fun with this? After all, I’ve never been given free reign like this before.

1. Sex, at least twice a week.

Yes, I like that one. I’m usually with the girls on Monday, Tuesdays, and Sundays. He can choose between the other days.

2. No interfering with Movie Mondays, Taco Tuesdays, or Study Sundays.

There. That solves that.

3. The night before any exams, we eat dinner in.

I’m on a roll now.

Ideas start popping in my head left and right. Some I eliminate, others I add to the list. By the time my shift is over, I have sevenrulesfor our... relationship? Is that what we’re calling this? It seems more like an affair. The secrets, lies, deception. If either of us slip up, this could end up being complicated.

The last thing I want is to put my scholarship in jeopardy. It’s really all I have. My parents can’t help me if I lose it. So my main focus has to be my grades.

Before I pack up for the afternoon, I take a picture of my list and shoot it off to Micah.

ME: Negotiations are open.

His immediate reply makes me smile.

MICAH: It’s Wednesday.

ME: I’m aware.

MICAH: Piper still out of town?

ME: Until next week.

MICAH: Any exams tomorrow?

ME: Not until Monday. Why?

MICAH: I want to take you on a date tonight.

MICAH: To negotiate. Item #5 specifically.
