"Too many fucking people. I can't keep an eye on the pledges and my sisters at the same time."

There's a sense of panic in Max’s voice. It has nothing to do with the pledges. And more than likely nothing to do with Lo since she's currently walking this way with Finn's arm around her.

Poor Evie.

She's going to get all of Max's attention this year. She should be able to enjoy her first year of college. Instead, he's going to be watching her like a hawk and suck all the joy out of her life.

"I'll keep an eye on Evie." The words are out of my mouth before I can stop them.

"And your hands to yourself." Max growls the words out as his eyes bore into mine. If he's looking for a reaction, he's not going to get one.

"She's like a sister to me, and you know it."

"Good. And thank you." Max mutters the words, causing Julian and I to share a look.

"I'm sorry. What was that? I couldn't hear you over the music." He knows I'm lying, but he repeats the words anyway.

"Now go find her. And make sure no one is around her."

"You want me to make sure she's standing alone in a corner?"

"I want you to make sure there are no guys near her."

"Did I just sign up to be a cock block?" I joke, setting my beer on the counter as I walk by Max. He punches me in the shoulder, but it doesn't have any force behind it. I know how much he cares about his sisters, and he knows I will protect her like she's my own.

It doesn't take me long to spot Evie. She's talking to a guy. He's leaning in close. That'll earn him a broken nose. His hand is on her back. Broken fingers. Maybe a wrist for good measure. Max doesn't understand boundaries sometimes.

I'm about to warn Evie about Max when my attention is drawn to the left side of the living room.

My dove.

In a short skirt and crop top.

Hands over her head. Hips shaking.

Her eyes are closed, her body lost in the music. And me? I'm lost in the sight of her.

As if she can feel me watching, she opens her eyes and finds me through the crowd. Slowly lowering her hands, she runs them down her body, over her breasts, across her hips and grips her thighs, bending forward slightly, the sway of her body never faltering.

Our eyes remain locked on each other as the song changes. The beat picking up. Her hips changing rhythm.

When I take a step toward her, ready to throw her over my shoulder and carry her out of here, the slightest shake of her head stops me.

Crooking my finger at her, she looks around at her friends, who are oblivious to our staring contest. They're lost in their own world, singing at the top of their lungs, and jumping around to the music.

Casually strutting away from her friends, Mya walks past me, her fingers grazing the front of my jeans. There's no denying she felt how much I want her. Turning to follow her, I keep a safe distance in case anyone is watching us. But when her foot hits the top step, I lose my patience, sweeping her into my arms and carrying her through the first open door.

As much as I want to lose myself in her right now, I want to talk to her more. I want to know why she's been avoiding me all week. Why she hasn't replied to a single text message.

But my dove has other ideas. Her hands fly to my belt, releasing it with the flick of her wrist.

When she stumbles slightly, I place my hands over hers to stop her from reaching into my pants.

It's the hardest decision I've ever had to make. Especially considering I can smell her arousal.

"Mya," I say as I wrap her arms around my neck before lifting her by her ass and pressing her against the wall next to the door, reaching over to lock it.

"Fuck me, Brady. Please." She wiggles against my body, looking for friction. I give it to her, pressing my dick against her core, and trapping her body between me and the wall.
