Walking around the back of the house, I take in a few deep breaths and let them out slowly, attempting to calm the beat of my heart and the ache in my groin. One glance at my dove and I was rock hard.

Especially after not seeing her all week. Then, seeing the way she's dressed tonight.

All eyes are going to be on her. She looked stunning. Strong. Her outer beauty on display and her inner beauty shining bright.

When I finally make it around the back of the house, my eyes fall to the dark corner Mya and I hid in that first night. Images of me pressing her against the wall. Of the way she looked up at me as she dropped to her knees and took me in her mouth.

My dove.

I guarantee she hasn't looked up the meaning of the white dove yet. If she had, she wouldn't have run from me. She would have known I was all in. That she means more to me than I will ever be able to put into words.

Taking a seat near the fire, I stare into the flames and allow myself to zone out. To get lost in thoughts of Mya and concentrate on what I'm planning on telling her.

Slowly, my friends make their way out to where I am, and soon the fire is surrounded by the people I care about most in this world. Except Max. Which means he's probably found a way to corner his girl and beg for a second chance. To plead his case.

What I wouldn't give to see Max on his knees, begging.

I can't help but miss the one person I want to see most.

Finn and Willow are swaying to the music. Declan and Kendall need to get a room. Micah and Alexis are cuddled in a chair. Even Kane and Colt found girls willing to dance with them. Which leaves Julian and me. He looks ten times as devastated as I feel, and that's saying a lot since my heart doesn't want to beat without Mya.

In need of a distraction, I pull my phone from my pocket and see a waiting text from Evie.

EVIE: Thank you!

She doesn't have to thank me for helping her. It wasn't that hard. Plus, Max is notorious for overstepping. I've been feeding him information, all of it lies, just to keep him from going crazy on someone. I have no idea what Evie's been up to. Or Leo for that matter. Still, I text Max daily and make up stories about the two of them. Half the time, he doesn't bother to respond. I'm pretty sure he knows I'm lying to him. Not that it matters. I'm sure he has other people spying on them as well.

ME: He was already in hot water; I may have just turned up the heat a little.

EVIE: I know nothing but prepare to be hugged when I see you here in a minute.

ME: Not in front of your brother. In fact, you may want to avoid him if you can. He's still pretty pissed off. I hope your costume has a mask.

EVIE: No mask, and I don't plan to avoid him. He can suck it up. Not his house. He doesn't get to make the rules.

ME: You're fierce. I like it. Tell Piper to come out back.

ME: But don't tell her you're talking to me.

ME: In fact, don't say anything at all.

ME: Screw it. My man is miserable. Send her out here. But be stealthy about it.

EVIE: Got it.

I steel my features when I hear the back door of the house slam shut. Julian is staring into the fire, a look of defeat on his face. He's completely zoned out. Focused on what's in front of him and unaware that his heart is standing behind him.

"Where's your hammer?" Piper asks.

"I left it in the living room I think."

"That's a shame. After all, who is Thor without his hammer?"

"It's not the hammer that makes the man; it's the woman."

Cheesy? Yes. Spot on? Yup.

"Really? And here I thought it was the other way around. The man completes the woman."
