Twenty-seven plus a few small children. All stuffed into a four-bedroom home that couldn't have been more than twenty-five hundred square feet. Not only did I feel slightly claustrophobic, but my anxiety shot through the roof as soon as we walked through the door.

It's a good thing my girlfriend knows exactly what to say to calm me down.

As soon as we're alone, I'm going to strip you out of those clothes and lick every inch of you. Starting with my favorite appendage.

I was rock hard as I shook her father’s hand, but my racing heart had calmed down. My focus was on getting through dinner so we could head back to my place. Surprisingly, we were there for close to five hours, and I barely noticed. After she initially helped to push my anxiety away, it never returned.

Which I made sure to thank her for properly later that night. And the next day before we went to my house for Christmas dinner where my mother instantly fell in love with her. I'd never brought a girl home before, and I didn't want my mom to ask a bunch of questions, so I hadn't forewarned them. When we showed up, the initial shock only lasted long enough for me to introduce Mya as my girlfriend.

"You do look hot in that shirt. It hugs that sexy body of yours, but you also look the other kind of hot where you might pass out if you don't get enough air in your lungs." Reaching up, Mya pops the top button of my shirt, and I feel instant relief. "I'll help you with the rest of these buttons in fifteen minutes," she promises as she presses a kiss to my cheek.

"Why fifteen minutes?"

It's thirty minutes until the ball drops and the new year officially starts. Colt and his band have been playing for the last hour, and the house is packed. When Colt announced that the Kappas were going to host a New Year’s Eve party and that his band, Fade Into Nothing was going to play, a bunch of people came back from break early just to be here tonight.

"Because. That gives you plenty of time to have your way with me before we ring in the new year. Then we can do it all again."

My smile matches hers and she saunters off.

What a way to end one year and start the next.

Inside the woman I love. Who, on a regular basis, proclaims her love for me as well. We're no longer hiding it from our friends. She's not sneaking in and out of my apartment anymore. In fact, she's barely left since the afternoon we met at the coffee shop.

Thanks to Colt and Kane.

Sneaky bastards.

Kane is a computer genius. Colt convinced him to hack my phone and send the text. He knew I was meeting with Evie and sent Mya straight to me. If she hadn't shown up...

I don't even want to think about it.

I'm grateful she took a chance and couldn't even bring myself to pretend to be upset with those two idiots. Though, watching Colt up on stage right now, makes me wonder if there's really a sentimental sap hiding underneath all that hair. Someone who wants more than just one night.

Maybe he just needs a little help realizing that. Or the right girl shoved in his face.

Glancing around the room, I watch as all the girls stare at him in awe. I mean, the guy has a great voice, don't get me wrong, but those are "fuck me" stares. I'm pretty sure he's already done a few of them. They look familiar, and it's not from around campus.

Over in the far corner, I spot my dove laughing with her friends. There's only a small group of them tonight. Kora and Kendall are on one side of Mya, Scarlet and Gia are on the other. They're singing along with Colt, swaying to the music. Mya, Kendall, and Kora's eyes are closed, their heads thrown back. Scarlet and Gia, on the other hand, have the same fuck-me look the rest of the girls in the room do. Only Scarlet's face is softer, her bottom lip pulled between her teeth, as she stares.

As if she feels me assessing her, she glances in my direction, her eyes widening when she realizes I caught her staring. I try to soften the blow by smiling, but she slowly backs away from her friends before turning and running from the room just as the song ends.

"We're going to take a break to celebrate with all of you, but don't worry, we're far from done for the night."

Cheers ring out as Colt jumps off the stage I helped erect this afternoon. His bandmates seem confused by the sudden break, not moving from their positions for a few beats before finally rising. Meanwhile, Colt has already weaved his way through the crowd and into the kitchen.

But he doesn't stop.

Following at a safe distance, I watch as Colt takes the back staircase up to the second floor. I'm two steps from the top when I hear a door shut and a lock slide into place.

Not wanting to interrupt whatever he has going on, I retreat to the living room to find my girl. She's waiting for me right where I last saw her. I wrap my arms around her waist and pull her close, and she tilts her head back and smiles up at me.

"You two are disgustingly sick. And I can say that because you're worse than me and Declan, which I know is hard to top."

Kendall laughs at her assessment of us, as I kiss the top of Mya's head.

"You only think that because you don't realize how nauseating you really are," Kora says to her sister as she bumps her with her hip.

"Just wait, bitch. One day I'll be saying the same thing to you."
