“He didn’t wrap your ankle?”Mya asks as she studies the bruising.

I hadn’t even thought about it, to be honest. Since Colt left twenty minutes ago all I could focus on were his parting words.

Kind of like you did after I kissed you.

He does remember kissing me.

He said he did earlier, but I wasn’t sure if he actually remembered the events of that night or if he just knew he’d kissed me before.

I wanted to punch the air in victory, and maybe I would have, if I weren’t so pissed off at him right now. For kissing me again then leaving me. For running away when I finally thought we were going to get to know each other. For not reading more into what I was asking him.

I wanted him to stay with me. To hold me. To hang out and watch a movie or just talk.

It wasn’t a shock when I felt how excited he was. The way his body pressed against mine had my adrenaline buzzing. My heart racing. The butterflies in my stomach flapping their wings.

Until he walked away.

I swear the butterflies dropped dead on the spot.

“No. He helped me upstairs and set me up with a cold compress, then left.”

I don’t mention that it was Colt who helped me instead of Kane. Or that Kane took one look at us when he arrived and decided to leave us alone. That instead of wrapping my ankle, Colt was kissing me senseless to help me forget about the pain.

Nope.

I keep my trap shut and let her believe whatever the hell she wants. I keep my answers short and simple. No need to offer details she doesn’t need.

“Well, I honestly don’t think you need to wrap it. I think the cold compress did its job. The swelling isn’t that bad, and as long as you sleep with it elevated, you should be okay to put a little weight on it tomorrow.”

Perfect. I need to drive home in the morning.

“Thanks for coming all this way to check it out. I know you and Brady probably had better things to do.”

“He had a bone to pick with Kane anyway, so we’re killing two birds with one stone.”

“About what?”

“Kane hacked into his cell phone.”

“Seriously?”

“Yup. Decided to take it upon himself to play matchmaker.”

“Between you two?”

Mya tells me the whole story. How they were together, then apart. And today, back together. All because Kane poked his nose in their business and set up a meeting Brady didn’t know about. Which worked out in his favor, she points out. Since they’re back together now.

“I think what he did was sweet. Brady called it an invasion of privacy.”

They’re both right.

“He’s honestly mad about it when you two ended up together?” I have a hard time envisioning Brady angry about anything. He’s always seems to laid back.

“No, but he wants to give Kane shit and make sure he never hacks his phone again. There may be some stuff on there he doesn’t want anyone to see.”

“Like what?” I wiggle my eyebrows at Mya as she smirks at me. “Nudies?”
